Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

Thank you Dan! Yes I am aware, it just doesn’t make sense to me that the app is removed and now have to go through added steps. Sure it works now through a work around but for how long? Just better off dropping both now…

Re: YouTubeTV app availability?

Any update on the negotiations or where to check in on any progress, like Twitter.

I’ve been searching around but have not found any information.

I hope they works things out as the consumer is the one who suffers.  I personally prefer a quicker way of accessing YouTubeTV, as a separate channel compared to going through YouTubeTV.

Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

I certainly prefer YouTube TV over Fubu, so if Roku and Goggle are unable to reach some contractual agreeement, not sure what I would do, but I would most likely get rid of Roku and use some other streaming platform that provides easy access to YouTube TV.  I have no idea who the "bully" is in these transactions, but consumers are always the losers in these types of disputes.

Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

I am in my first month with YouTubeTV after leaving SlingTV due to buffering and antenna issues.  We have seven Roku devices so not sure I want to spend the $$ to replace them.  Would need to do that several at a time.

This dispute needs to end now.  We love You Tube TV and we need to upgrade our streaming devices around our house this holiday season.   No way I'm buying Roku's with this ongoing dispute.

Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

For what it’s worth (and doubt it helps), I posted to both Google and Roku on Twitter to work things out.  That the ones who suffer are we consumers.  I do not want to go back to SlingTV (even though they have all the channel we watch) due to the constant issues we had with it.  And don’t want to go back to traditional Cable programming and pay for many channels I don’t watch.  We are currently saving $100/mo compared to basic cable programming with out current setup.

Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

Now I see where Roku plans on dropping regular you tube in December. There goes the work around to get to you tube tv. As usual its the customer that suffers.

Roku isn't planning on dropping it. Google is going to withdraw it when their current contract expires. Based on what Roku has said publicly, I'm on their side in this situation.

Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

So now then we will be in the position that in case of any bugs with the YouTube app that requires reloading it to fix, we will then be stuck.  That is what happened to us when there were bugs with the YouTube TV app and once we removed it to reload we could not because it is no longer available in the Roku store...
