Re: ROKU Removing YouTubeTV

This is extremely disappointing to say the least. I love YouTubeTV and our household has Roku because of YoutubeTv. Might as well throw our Roku devices in the garbage if this happens. In this day and age it should not be this hard to keep your entertainment platforms the way you like it.

Yes, on FireStick and on AppleTV devices.

Re: ROKU Removing YouTubeTV

I agree. I just cut Directv and bought 4 Roku devices in order subscribe to YTTV and two other premium channels through Roku, and now this.

Figure it out, ROKU, or I'm gone.

Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

I agree with you, Bob.  I have tirelessly promoted Roku over the years.

But, two things are true. 1) The Roku Channel on a Roku device SUCKS major, and I have said that in Roku’s Survey.  The manner in which their Roku mobile device app (i.e., for my iPad and iPhone) delivers channels and premium content (Stars, Showtime, HBO) via the Roku Mobile App, wherein it does not screen rotate/balance to a defaulted widescreen (portrait mode), also sucks.  Clean up your own house, Roku.  The Roku Channel’s line-up, not their Premium Content channels, looks like TRASH TV.  Junk.  I don’t watch—and WON’T—watch it.  My Roku is my aggregation device to watch BETTER TV, not re-runs of mediocre junk-vaulted **bleep**.

2). To put us as pawns in a pitched battle between Google and Roku, here’s a message:  I’m not a huge fan of Google, but after the Spectrum debacle and the HBOMax roll-out debacle, Roku, just stop F**CKING around with us.

Re: YouTube TV vs Roku negotiations

I WAS a big fan until the Spectrum debacle, the delay in rolling out HBOMax, and now this.  Yeah, I can still watch YTTV on Roku.  But, had I been a new subscriber, you would have had me F**KEd/trapped.  I DON’T like that!

Look at YOUR OWN/THIS comment forum.  YTTV’s is a PLUS 10 to your position.  You’re clearly in the wrong.

And, you know the worst of this?  You’ve made me take Google’s side!!!

Re: Youtube TV cancelling service on Roku

It's the other way around. It's Roku that's playing hardball. YouTube TV wants to be everywhere. Roku you are making a big mistake! Last night I already ordered the new Chromecast with Google TV built in. I'm going to test it and see how I like it and if I do, I'm done with Roku

Re: Youtube TV cancelling service on Roku

I hope that Roku and Youtube TV resolve the issue whatever it is.  I started with HULU because they have a good selection of original programming and have a much more extensive library of on-demand programming.  But I switched to Youtube after HULU started experiencing a lot of outages - some lasting a few minutes - others lasting several hours.  I've not yet had any problems with Youtube.  If push comes to shove I'd go back to Hulu but I prefer Youtube.

Re: Roku, don't lose YouTube

Hi @47A,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We encourage you to contact Google and urge them to reach an agreement to continue offering YouTube TV on Roku and to follow standard industry practices, pledging not to require access to sensitive search data or to manipulate search results.

For more information about Youtube Tv update on Roku, visit our Support page here: Update on YouTube TV channel on Roku | Official Roku Support

Let me know if you have any other questions, and have a good day!

Thanks,

Re: Roku, don't lose YouTube

@RokuMary-F,

Google sent an email to all YouTube TV subscribers yesterday that included this:

"Our goal with YouTube TV is to offer you the content you love, delivered in the way you want — including on all of your favorite devices. To make this happen, we enter into agreements with partners in order to enable access to YouTube TV via different devices.

Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to reach an agreement with Roku. We continue to offer Roku the opportunity to renew the YouTube TV deal under the existing, reasonable terms.

If you are not currently using Roku, you should not have any issues. For our Roku users, as we send this, you still have access to YouTube TV on Roku devices; however, Roku may choose to remove the YouTube TV app from their devices. We encourage Roku to continue providing the YouTube TV app for our mutual users."

So why not renew the existing agreement??
