Last night in the middle of watching a TV show, YouTube TV was automatically removed from all of my devices. Has anybody else experienced this?
I understand YouTube TV was removed from the Channel Store but I was under the impression I was OK to keep using it as long as I did not remove it.
Roku Support tells me that Google must have removed it but I find it hard to believe that YouTube TV was removed from all Roku devices last night and I cannot find anybody else on the internet complaining.
Workaround:
YouTubeTV has been added as an option on the left side of the regular YouTube app.
I know about the work around. I was just wondering why YouTube TV was removed. I thought we were grandfathered in and could keep using the app as long as we did not remove it.
I was at a neighbors house where there are too many TV's to count, all either Roku TV's or Roku stick equipped. On one TCL, the screen literally went dark while being watched and the YouTube TV app disappeared. Moments later the same thing happened on another TCL. Turned on another with a stick and the YT TV app was already gone. Tried accessing through the base YT app back on the TCL and it failed to load, returning to the Home screen, it had also disappeared. Neither were visible in the App Store.
Today while looking for current news on the subject I tried my own TCL. Both apps, were still there. Both loaded and the YT TV app prompted me to reactivate my long dormant subscription. The base YT app was still there and is working fine. Same is true for my Roku Ultra. I even forced a software update on the premier from 10.0.0.4195 to ...4198. Both apps still there and still working.
Very strange behavior.
A quick update. Returned to neighbors house. YouTube TV app still missing and of course not available for reinstallation. The base YT app however was again working and with the YT TV option at the bottom left. Had to re-login and a pain to launch but for now they are happy again.
Sounds like what happened to me. Screen went black then back to the Roku home screen.
Roku support is tellling me, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience but it is due to a glitch on the Roku"
I find it hard to believe 3 Roku devices and 2 TCL Roku TVs all had a "glitch" and removed the app at the same time.

Just as an FYI, when you either add or remove an app, it adds or removes it from all devices on the account, so that behavior (app removed from all devices) is to be expected.
Not that it should have been removed (and you are unlikely to discover the source of the removal, unless someone accidentally deleted it from one of the devices while using it and admits to doing so), but perhaps Google will provide a private app install process with code for such situations (similar to what Spectrum has done), though considering they enabled the YT app for YTTV access, this is unlikely.
In case this helps anyone, I just read in ‘Community Discussions’ that YouTube / YouTube TV should be back now:
