Hey @TM3

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community!

Please note that we do not charge our customers for installing a channel. Subscription can only be processed if you agreed to the order details that will pop up on your screen when you decide to sign up for a membership. We also suggest setting up a 4-digit PIN on your Roku to make sure there will be no unrecognized charges.

Check out this link for instructions: How do I create or update the PIN for my Roku® account?

I hope this answers your question. Have a great day!

All the best,
Kariza

My apologies. I don't even know how to ask a question so am asking it in this thread. Just got a roku, plugged it into the internet. It was allowing me (without me doing a thing) to watch live NBC. Now it won't. How do you even GET the NBC app? Where do I go to add it? Does it cost anything?

Thank you for any help you can give me!

Thanks for the post, @mthjhh

It appears that the NBC channel may require additional fees to access its contents. The cost will be shown on your TV screen and once you confirmed the purchase, that's the time that the payment method you've chosen will be billed unless they are offering a free trial.

You can download the NBC channel from here: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/b4a44db4a5f23a72771e8ed85816d3bc/nbc. Once installed, the channel will not immediately appear on your Roku device. Your Roku device checks every 24 hours for any new channels you have added from the website and automatically installs them. If you would like to download immediately, go to your Roku device and select Settings > System > System update > Check now.

For other options on how to add channels, you can refer to this link: How do I add channels to my Roku® streaming device?

Extra channels.

I tried that but it didn't work. When asked about my TV provider. It asks about Roku. But the world "Prime " or Sling TV" isn't listed. My Sling TV will be disconnected next week. My Sling TV is under my brother's name, he's gonna disconnect it next week, because he's moving. So, I won't be able to watch Sling TV next week.

I have to go to Pluto TV in order to watch History. But it's called Pluto History and it's different from the original History Channel.

Being the first post in this thread, I can't tell what "that" or "it" are.

I do see a history channel in the Roku channel store.  It is one of those apps that needs an existing TV subscription such as cable, satellite or some streaming packages, and it would have to be a TV subscription that includes the History channel.  (That is to say, they want to be paid, but unlike, for example CBS/Paramount, they haven't come up with a way to pay them directly so you need to subscribe to them via some package.)

Sling is not the only service you can subscribe to on Roku that carries The History Channel.

Others I can find carrying the live feed as you would have on cable are AT&T TV, fubo, Hulu Live, Philo, and Vidgo.  With each of these you'd get a bunch of other channels as well.  Philo is probably the cheapest at $20/month.

History Channel is one of the Discovery Group channels included in Discovery+.  Discovery+ doesn't provide the live feed, but much History Channel programming, both current and past, is available on demand.  Discovery+ is a pretty good deal at $5/month with ads or $7/month without ads.

But the long and short of it is you aren't going to be able to stream the History Channel (or most other cable-type channels) without paying somebody for the privilege.
