Where did the YouTubeTV app go? I was having issues today and uninstalled. Went to re-install and it is GONE from the choices.
I found this out the hard way last night. YouTubeTV would to load and would go back to the Roku mention. Restarted the Roku devices, unplugged them and plugged then back, checked for Roku updates, restarted Roku devices and mentioned this on Twitter. No solution.
I was finally able to receive a call back from YouTubeTV rep who mentioned that YTTV is no longer a standalone app and we need to access it through the YouTube channel. So much for getting a quicker start to open the YTTV channel.
It sure is frustrating that both Roku and YouTubeTV have no 800 number to get help. I spent 2 hours researching the problem before getting any info or help.
Even more frustrating is knowing people who access YouTubeTV via Roku and their YTTV channel works fine.
If mine worked, I wouldn’t have removed the app.
Roku, YouTube and any other company needs to focus on providing better customer service and offer phone contact. Not everyone uses forums. And even searching the issue in this forum took a lot of time to find and it was after I found the solution elsewhere.
I needed to vent.
@ChrisSz YouTubeTV is not currently available. Unfortunately, you should not have removed it, and there's no way to get it back until Google and Roku come to an agreement.
But you can access YouTube TV from within the YouTube channel itself. On the left menu there is a link to it at the bottom.
On my Roku, The youtubetv app went from "LOADING..." and then back out to Roku
and
The youtube app works and when I select "YouTube TV", ytttv appears. The menus do indeed work. When I select anything, it goes from "LOADING..." and then back out to Roku
I have two roku boxes.
One that will not run yttv beyond "LOADING...". It's a 4210X Roku 2, software version 10.5.0
The other that will run yttv is a 4210X Roku 2, software version 10.0.0.
The yttv app on both Roku's is version 2.20 build 93005574.
Note the Roku software versions are indeed different.
Arrrgh!!!
I went for a snack and then tried a manual Roku software update again.
My Roku software version is now 10.5.0 build 4164-04.
My youtube tv app now works as it yesterday.
Now I can catch up on Robot Chicken.
Thank You Roku Support!!!
Good feedback about RokuOS 10.5.0-4164 addressing the loading issue with YTTV with the same YTTV version - thats indicative of Roku addressing the memory management issue that is the source of this problem.
It seems MANY found out the hard way about this issue regarding YTTV on a Roku device. Someone replying "you shouldn't have removed the YTTV channel" as part of troubleshooting, where this is one of the first steps taken when a streaming channel is not performing correctly. seems to be missing the point. An email blast from Ruku to their customers regarding this important fact would have saved many human hours of frustration.
There are many here on this forum with knowledge about technical issues related to Ruku and that resource is great. Too bad Roku is not more directly involved is supporting purchasers of their devices. My solution, as I mentioned in another post, was to remove the culprit.. the Roku device, and enjoy my YTTV subscription via another streaming device and let Google and Roku fight their battles without the consumers of Roku suffering casualties.
So ends my vent too.
I can not get YouTube tv to load. I removed the app to reinstall but now I can not find the channel to reload. I pay for this channel monthly. How do I fix this?
We are also getting the error can’t run channel when loading youtubetv. Please include us in the small amount of users having this issue. Other channel load just fine.
