When will roku fix the bloat code issue on the express models?

Youtube has not worked for a month or so.

You always say factory reset....change your screensaver.......change your background

People are entitled to thier background screensavers etc.

They bought the hardware you are not supporting it.

The so called fixes don't work anyway on the express models. Maybe if the dude has like three channels installed.

Come clean. fix it

I can run youtube. Slow as molasses in the winter time on a roku 1 but it will work. The express models do nothing but errors and confuse people.

It's not the people its bad code.

It seems that roku doesn't care about budget users and just want's people to upgrade.

Will the issue actually be addressed?

Re: When will roku fix the bloat code issue on the express models?

Not Roku's problem to fix.

Google develop the app and have made it bloaty (combining YoutubeTV) which makes it not run well on older, cheaper devices that have less memory.

BBC IPlayer in the UK has similar issues, as do some of the other "terrestrial" broadcast channel catch up apps.

The issue for Roku to answer is why they continued to sell devices with limited power for much longer than they should have. The remedy would be an upgrade discount to get a more powerful model which can cope with the bigger apps now being developed.

Re: When will roku fix the bloat code issue on the express models?

Roku can enforce standards and norms for apps developed by 3rd parties.. especially with regard to functionality. Memory use, clock cycles used, etc...

Its also in Roku's best interest to see that apps function to a standard minimum. After all, they certainly wouldn't want people who should be angry at Google blaming them for their faulty bloatware.

Frankly, they're both equally at fault IMO. At the end of the day, nobody expects a gentlemanly, helpful, and genuine resolution to come about when basically two behemoth corporate toddlers cant do anything but cry, whine, and tantrum to everyone's collective misery.

I agree that it's not a fault exactly but.......to not support the quote poor customer base is really just well.

It Just seems wrong. Just come out and say the model is discontinued. They have done so in the past.

It would be more graceful.

The roku app ran fine at 4 pm one day and locked out at 5. There has to be more to it.
