@Nuschler

The Super Bowl is being carried by Fox so you can watch for free with antenna.

Otherwise, Fox Sports has apparently announced that users can also watch for free on their Fox Sports apps without the usual need for cable/tv provider authentication. (sources provided below but didn't see anything directly on FoxSports.com website https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/super-bowl).

For Roku devices, install Fox Sports channel from the Roku Channel Store.

Yep, I hope this really works come Sunday.  I wonder if all the pregame programming will be free?  I did find a cnet article saying that fox will be showing it for free on the fox sports apps.

The Roku blog post confirms that the Fox Sports app can be viewed free for the Super Bowl.  I am assuming the entire coverage will be included.  Included in this blog posting are other channels that carry Fox Sports in case anyone runs into issues and does not have access to an antenna.

Users could just sign up for free/trial offers for some of these premium cable-alternatives and watch through them in case any issues arise.

Roku

You state that the FoxSports App will allow me to watch Super Bowl free.

 I got this app and tried to watch a soccer match which also was “free”.  After 63 minutes the app shut me off saying I need to switch to my “TV provider”.

 I live in a rural area where a simple antenna doesn’t work. Only have Roku 4K streaming stick.  Fox Sports also broke off my World Cup telecasts.

I just can’t trust Fox Sports.

@Nuschler

The Super Bowl will be shown for free on Fox Sports on Sunday.

Until Sunday, Fox Sports is not free.  Sometimes you will get a free preview but this is normally a subscription channel and you need tv provider credentials to access (an account).  Fox Sports is waiving this account requirement for the Super Bowl event only.

Until then, you will not be able to watch anything on Fox Sports for free (other than a free preview once every 24hrs) unless you have an account.

You can consider trying one of the cable-alternatives listed in the previous link that are offering free trials (youtubeTV, fubo, etc) that carry Fox Sports and Fox, and then cancel before your free trial period ends.  That gives you a backup plan and alternate avenues to watch.

Then perhaps you and FoxSports should be UPFRONT about this!

Awful bait and switch!

@ron92646 and @Nuschler

I have had Fox Sports running for a couple of hours this morning so appears all day today (for Super Bowl coverage) is free.

Roku also made a posting this morning confirming Fox Sports coverage.  I am also seeing it on the ad space on my Home Screen as well.

I noticed when I opened the Fox Sports app today (the day of the superbowl), it was different than yesterday.  Yesterday had the choice to enter your login credentials (I think in the settings) but today it looks different and I can't even find where to enter credentials so I think Fox Sports has just opened full access for everyone just for today.  Happy Suberbowl watching everyone!
