open the cbs app and scroll down on the left side. Select sign-out, the sign-in. A code will be presented and you have to use a computer and enter the code at https://www.cbs.com/tv/roku/. Then select your cable service provider from the ones shown and login. Then you will see a message on the tv indicating that you can now use the cbs app. What a PITA! Uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing to help with the issue either.
"Danny" keeps perpetuating the false hope that there is a fix for this.
Roku needs to work with CBS to fix the validation problem on Roku where the cable provider proof of subscription is only valid for 24 hours requiring reinstall and revalidation every single day. NO EFFORT is being undertaken by Roku/CBS teams.
I have followed the instructions multiple times - at least once a week - explicitly over the past 9+ months:
1. Remove CBS Channel App
2. Restart Roku (Settings > System > System restart > Restart) (have tried other restart methods as well of course)
3. Reinstall CBS Channel App and revalidate on their Roku website with my cable provider
Validation works for about 24 hours, then once again "We're sorry an error occurred" and have to perform steps 1 - 2 -3 over again.
Roku is manually as well as automatically updated constantly. CBS Channel is manually as well as automatically updated constantly.
I have multiple Roku products, and the same error occurs on every single one. I have multiple stations (ABC, NBC, ESPN, etc.) and this problem occurs ONLY on Roku/CBS
Roku and CBS are clearly NOT in any way having their technical staff work together to sort this problem out.
Places to complain about CBS - Roku
Include enough of a description to be helpful for others (usually over 100 words)
- Please exclude profanity, threats or personal insults
- Be sure to specify "CBS App on Roku" and
- "The CBS Roku apps offer some content for free, but you might need to connect a cable account to unlock it all" is only valid for 24 hours before you have to reconnect to your cable account
Here is my suggested wording that you are free to copy-paste:
Roku needs to work with CBS to fix the validation problem on Roku where the cable provider proof of subscription is only valid for 24 hours requiring reinstall and revalidation every single day. NO EFFORT is being undertaken by Roku/CBS teams.
WHERE TO COMPLAIN:
On Roku - bring up the CBS App and press * on the remote to get to the rating

Just as an aside, the code that runs in the browser during CBS validation includes a "bookend" which is the termination of the validation in 24 hours. CBS needs to adjust that code being passed to Roku to something more reasonable as other channels such as ESPN do - it is more reasonable to have to revalidate after some months rather than every single day. We are very near to extortion from CBS rather than service delivery.
I have tried the solution of deleting the CBS app, restart my Roku Ultra - Model 4660RW, reinstall the CBS app and it only lasts for one day.
The next day I have to do it all over again.
The CBS support team said to go through all the above steps.
Does anyone know of a permanent fix or am I forced to pay for Paramount Plus?
@Boogaloo48— There's 10 pages before you that you might want to read. AFAIK it's Paramount+ and that's it. As to why that is, read those prior posts.
Cbs won't fix. They rather you pay for Paramount+
I restarted the system and reinstalled the cbs app and still get message error.
This didn't work for me
No. This does not fix the CBS “error occurred “. Help. Who can I call
