I'm in a unique situation: I run the roku and premium channel setup for my elderly parents, who are out of town. I don't use any of the setup they do; they are on a wholly separate roku account and more importantly, even if I WANTED to log into their roku account: my own roku device does not support one particular channel, Peacock.
I need to upgrade my roku subscription for Peacock Premium to Peacock Premium Plus.
When I log into my parents' roku account to upgrade it, I am only given an option to cancel before my next billing date (i.e., I cannot cancel effective immediately, then go to Peacock to create a subscription. I also can't upgrade through the Peacock app itself, as it forces me back to roku).
Looking at prior help topics, it looks to me like the only way to upgrade an EXISTING peacock subscription is by going to the actual app on an actual roku and doing it there. I see no other way.
But again, that's the ONE option I don't have available: my parents are 600 miles away and the entire reason I ran the setup this way is that they are very old and have trouble understanding things, so there's no way they'll understand how to upgrade the account on their tv.
IS THERE ANY POSSIBLE WAY TO UPGRADE A PEACOCK ACCOUNT THROUGH THE ACTUAL ROKU SITE?
At this point, I'm just canceling all subscriptions I had through roku - the intent was to simplify everything. Instead, I've lost hours trying to deal with this nightmare.
same here - looks like you have to cancel through Roku and wait a month for subscription to run out then you can sign up for upgraded plan through Peacock. Missed opportunity for Peacock to earn more money during Olympics with the tons of people who signed up during this time. Went to watch the Office after and the ads are unbearable. Oh well, stuck with them now I guess.
Basic Peacock was free with limited access, but was discontinued awhile ago. Peacock Premium is the standard ad-supported subscription. Peacock Premium Plus is the ad-free version, plus local live NBC and download shows/movies to phones/tablets.
Yet another reason to NEVER subscribe through a 3rd party. Always subscribe directly on the service's WEB SITE. Not sure about monthly, but with annual, if you are already subscribed to the regular Premium, you can update to Premium Plus for $6/month. You can do that on-and-off during your subscription if you only want ad-free for a certain time instead of paying for a full year of ad-free. It would be more expensive than the annual ad-free for a full year. As typical, annual prices are 10x monthly, so you get 2 "free" months. Annual Plus = $140 ($80 + $60). Annual Standard with Plus added later = up to $152 ($80 + (12 x $6)).
@renchilada I don't think there is any way of upgrading to Premium Plus when you are subscribed through Roku. I agree with @andyross in that I never subscribe using Roku. This doesn't solve your problem but when subscribed through Peacock you can upgrade from Premium to Premium Plus on a computer by logging into the Peacock account, you do not need a Roku device.
Roku billing is kind of like the TV controls on a Roku remote. They cover the basics, but only the basics. But at least with the TV you can grab the real remote if you need to. With Roku payments you are pretty stuck until the end of the billing cycle.
