There are apps that allow YouTube for windows to play two sets of subtitles simultaneously for language learners. It would be amazing if Roku could enable that for Netflix, etc.
Yes they take up lots of the screen.
Yes you’d probably want to bury the option in advanced settings.
But think of the marketing campaign as you advertise Roku for foreign language learning!
Double subtitles would work better if the speed could be slowed down too.
