Re: Spanish Commercials on Roku

It that all you have ? You refexively denigrate people when you have no substance? People that are concerned because they are subjected to Spanish language commercials in an English speaking nation are proclaimed racist ?--that is your position your highness? You boastfully declare yourself educated and then post absolute drivel--truly laughable---

Re: Spanish Commercials on Roku

"However, is an ad language really anything to be that bugged about?"

Only when you're racist.

Some might not realize that's a form of racism, being bothered by a different culture for ZERO logical reason, but it is.

"I'm hearing a different language so commercials can't program me!"

Are you serious?

You're complaining that you're not being effectively advertised to?

"Waaaaaaa I want my propaganda in English and I want to be programmed and told what to like!"

20 bucks says you're MAGA.

Anyone with a name like "real patriot" is definitely too illiterate and racist to realize that's what makes the country good, it's a place for all kinds of people to look past those things and care for each other because this is our home. I don't think I need to quote the Statue of Liberty, do I?

As of today, 4/3/25 it has been 33 days since Trump made English the official US language. Are you expecting people to learn a language in a month? You probably couldn't finish a book in a month.

Re: Spanish Commercials on Roku

It sure the **bleep** is! The fact we even have to see any ad content after purchasing the ROKU device thinking  they(Roku) would be able to control or filter out the non english ads is BS. I lost many a nights sleep wondering if I could be a form of racist for not understanding what the ad was selling. As I lay in bed counting the burros leaping over the fence wishing I knew what they were saying in those ads, Then I realized my housekeeper could translate for me, but i could tell that started to annoy her. She was far to busy to help with my illiteracy. My only hope at this point is to ask Hector, our landscaper if he would be willing to esplain. I will ask him next week when he comes to service our lawn. I will keep yall posted on my progress, I dont want to be a racist ! MAGA 2024

I wouldn't expect a conservative to know how ads are served in digital streaming, and how they're often not served by Roku...

You're complaining about something that, unless it's on the Roku channel itself, is usually under third-party control.

In typical fashion, you're upset at the wrong place/people.

Roku makes revenue off of third-party ad-supported channels but they're not choosing the ads on those channels. That's how licensing works... Roku licenses that channel and the channel does what they want, within regulation.

Roku is not in control of TV ratings or quality control either, meaning it's not their fault if someone puts a "bad" ad up, it's the third party channel hosters fault.

It's funny when you think you're smart, though. Also funny I knew the only kudos that comment had was from you. That was cute to read. Now go be angry somewhere else.

Spanish ads that I cannot understand

Why am I seeing/hearing Spanish ads? I unfortunately do not speak Spanish and cannot understand the ads. Isn’t the advertisers money then lost on me? I don’t care for commercials, but not being able to understand the language makes me pay attention even less. A blessing in disguise?

Re: Spanish Commercials on Roku

gee for someone who didn't want to get involved has an opion, shouldn't be here remarking on things you think are fine.. the rest of us and i can see there's alot of me's out there.. if i wanted spanish on my tv i'd watch the spanish channel.. you dont have to pay attention to the commercials to get annoyed hearing them in spanish.. i speak english only.. having spanish at all on my tv i paid for with hard earned money, should be my choice, should be anyone's choice and it should be something they check in an options box, and not just something that without my want to concent made mandatory to listen to.. this is why even free i hate the roku channel.. many complaints about them.

however, they are the only one that have the series grim.. and it's one of the only series they actually have the full seasons on.. normally roku has 3 seasons out of 8.. which is annoying by it's self.. after this series is done, i guarentee i'll never watch the roku channel again.. but the fact that i didn't have a choice on language irritates the heck out of me.. i live in New York.. no mexico. i expect that if i live in New york and istate i speak english and live in america i freaking for gods sakes get english.. i'm sick to death of foriegn **bleep** getting shoved up my nose in my own house. on my personal tv.. paid with money i do not have.

you however annoy me more at the moment. good for you if you don't mind it.. yay yo, your with the times. we are posting for roku to change what we do not want.. your thought on it has no place here if your fine with it. go compliment them on ratings and stop acting like we're the picky ones.. whichby the way is our right.. we paid 100+ for our tv.. but now, i'm going to go out of my way to give away this tv to someone and buy a non roku tv eso that i have a choice on what i listen to and how i listen to it.

sure channel is free and nobody's making me watch it.. but you know what i already paid for the tv. they offered their channel free of charge for a priviledge of us buying their tv. again they should have given us an option what language we want it in... correct me if i'm wrong but installing the tv for the first time, it asks you your language preference before you ever start watching tv.. and i marked english..

it is no where stated that i wanted bilingual option. or half engish half spanish..

Re: Spanish Commercials on Roku

it does not make you racist because you speak english and prefer to watch or listen to things in the language you understand.

nobody likes having things shoved down their throats.. that's what creates racist too.. when we're forced in the privacy of our own home on bills we pay.. to have to make tolerances for things that have nothing or no understanding to us.

you paid for your programming.. and you paid for your tv.. you paid the electric that makes all of it work.. you paid for the home it is sitting in.. your money means your right to choose the language it comes across.

Re: Spanish Commercials on Roku

that's rokus issue.. nobody gives a **bleep** how ads are or why or how they work.. it's not our problem.. it's rokus.. they could solve the anger over this by giving options like every other program out there.. otherwise when people choose english.. why bother asking if your just going to do **bleep** you want to do..

i'm leaving.. this is pointless i agree with the lady who says they dont care.. cause truth is.. they dont.. it's about the oney for them.. not the customers their'll lose in the future. and which by the way will matter money wise when that stops being made as much cause they chased away loyal customers.

i had roku tv for years.. replace is with another roku and on and on.. but this is unacceptable to me, so now i'll pay more for another tv.. just to get to listen to it the way i choose.. until trump changes the government.. this is still a semi free country.

and roku for not giving a **bleep** about choice and caring about their advertisers more than their customers.. they can kiss my **bleep** .. now and in future.

Your 3 consecutive responses looks like you were trying to respond to individual comments but replying in this forum goes to the whole thread, you have to @ the user you're responding to.

"It's Roku's fault, I don't care where the ads come from."

You sound like someone who'd yell at the waiter because of something the cook did. Except in this analogy, you'd be yelling at the wrong restaurant.

"Chase away loyal customers"

...because you heard someone speak Spanish? I'm sure you love taco's though! Everyone does!

It matters who you're upset with, it matters if it's the right company in the first place.

All because you heard some Spanish-speaking commercials due to a large local demographic in your area, this is hysterical. They're targeting audiences. You have no control over it. It's not worth raising your blood pressure or even thinking about. You missed out on hearing an advertisement, and now you're cursing and ranting because of it, that's manufactured outrage if I ever saw it.
