If you "select" Preferences, and then click right arrow you will notice the options which include Startup Channel (on or off) and Manage Startup Channel.  Hope this helps.

Yeah somehow it will eventually switch mysteriously back to 1Spectrum News though, then you'll have to reset again. Nice to set their own news as the default (isn't that convenient).  Pretty soon you'll get sick of resetting and just leave it there.

Here is the fix "settings" icon bottom left of main Spectrum screen where "live tv" "guide" "my library" "on demand". Change startup channel to off.
