It looks like your following the steps to check for software update on the Roku device, rather than checking for a channel update.
From the Home screen, try selecting the Sling channel and pressing the * button and choosing Check for updates.

Thank you for your reply. This was a new version of SLING that was available, it wasn't just adding another channel. The instructions that I followed were the instructions included in the error message. But the issue has been resolve. SLING does work now.
