2 weeks ago began getting Bypass Mode message each time launched my SXM app in my ROKU streaming. Spent several hours on phone with SXM & escalated to case mgt team which confirms issue with ROKU, not with SXM streaming app. Uninstalled & reinstalled & restarted all apps in TV, ROKU, devices, mobiles, etc., and the issue persists. Unable to get ROKU cust serv on phone. PLEASE advise fix??
FWIW - I don't currently have a SiriusXM account, nor have the SiriusXM app installed on my Rokus, nor have I ever seen a "Bypass mode" notification on any of the ones I do have. Further my web search for Roku Bypass only turned up recent posts re the recent appearances in the Sirius XM streaming app.
Consequently it seems likely to me that this is indeed coming from the Roku-compatible version of the SiriusXM channel app that SiriusXM has supplied to Roku. It could possibly be the result of some incompatibility the current app version has with the Roku operating system and that SiriusXM, or at least the support people you've talked to, are unaware of it. Their coders, or whoever they contract to do their Roku programming, should be able to track this down.
I am having the exact same problem.
FWIW, @makaiguy is speculating in good faith, even if he's not exactly helpful.
My device is a #Roku Express (3900 series) model 3900RW. It is running Software version 10.5.0, build 4208-51.
I was letting it run in bypass mode but the weird channels that kept coming up became too annoying and I reset the player...and now ...this refusal to access SiriusXM. Ugh.
Even though @makaiguy is unhelpful, he may be right that SiriusXM (thanks for clarifying @makaiguy) is on their thumbs and has not issued a software update that is compliant with the credentials necessary for account access/streaming.
Just another 21st century joy my parents never had to address.
I will just go back to listening to vinyl for 20 minutes at a time, or cassettes for 45 or 90 at a time hoping this resolves before my next billing period.
Until then

Actually, that's not what I meant at all. But I AM guilty of using an ambiguous pronoun leaving things open to misinterpretation. I should have said "SiriusXM's coders, or whoever they contract to do their Roku programming, should be able to track this down."
Roku should not be expected to alter their operating system to accommodate the mis-coding of each of the many hundreds of channel apps that run on their platform. The channels themselves provide the Roku-compatible versions of their apps and the onus is on each channel to make sure their app works right.
Until SiriusXM gets this fixed, see this post for a work-around user @PsiBolt used to get logged in to SiriusXM on Roku and get it working again.
The problem has now cleared. I didn't do anything besides just sit on my own thumbs overnight while I enjoyed some records and mag tape and good wine.
Glad the teapot tempest is over.
