SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

First of all, I don't speak nor do I understand Spanish. So my question is does anyone get advertisements in Spanish? The reason for my question is that I have set up my device in English and  maybe once in a blue moon, I will get an advertisement in Spanish..  Why would I get it in Spanish?

Re: SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

That's probably not a Roku issue, but a channel issue.  I'm guessing that the channel will take money from any advertiser that wants to pay them to display their ad.

Re: SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

My adds on the home screen are Spanish. I have set all languages to English. I do not get Spanish ads during programming on any streaming platform just the home screen.

Re: SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

I believe it to be a Roku issue. I have a Roku TV, stick and premium. All set on English. Get Spanish ads on Real America's voice on Roku TV, but different English ads on stick and premium at the same time. Sometimes get Spanish ads on local ABC channel over the antenna only on Roku TV.

Re: SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

I'm getting commercials in Spanish on Real America's Voice, The First, and ABC Network. Current are ads for Verizon, Target and Toyota. All through my Roku. DRIVES ME CRAZY! Everything is set for English Language in setup.

Re: SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

I believe that Language settings are just for programming. Ads can be in any language the advertiser wants. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Just because someone is watching English language programs doesn't mean that English is their first language. If the advertiser thinks Spanish speaking people can be better served with ads in Spanish, that's what they will do.

I appreciate your response but I have a very hard time believing the ultra-right, ultra-conservative news channel I'm watching is purposely inserting spanish language commercials and pro-vaccine commercials in their programs. "There are no conspiracies; but there are no coincidences".

Re: SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

I used to work in radio advertising a long time ago.Though the medium is different advertising principles are much the same.

The three parts of the advertising picture are the buyer, the seller, and the product. The buyer is the advertiser. The seller is the program or network. The product is you! That is, the program attracts a certain demographic the advertiser wants.

Some programs or networks are financially able to pick and choose. Most will take any advertising they can get just to stay on the air, including some that may seem contrary to their programming.

Many Spanish speaking viewers are conservative, especially those that have escaped socialist dictatorships, such as Cubans and Venezuelans. But really, advertisers don't care about their politics, they just want to sell the products.

Re: SPANISH ADVERTISEMENTS

Most any company you buy from advertises in multiple languages. You've just probably never seen those ads. Why would you boycott a company that advertises in another language?

Also, the ads may be inserted by a third party service, depending on how the channel is set up.
