Re: Roku TV Amazon Prime, Disney+ etc channels returns errors

Hi @RokuDanny-R,

No,  I have not tried another WiFi network, AP, or hotspot since receiving the firmware update and I am not sure I see the point in doing so TBH.

Please understand, the Roku will begin to fail whilst other devices connected to the same WiFi and AP continue to operate normally. I can, for example, play the same YT video on my phone that the Roku struggles with.

It has been solid up until this firmware. Lots of people are reporting the exact same problems and I am not sure why we are being stonewalled.

There is a problem with the firmware and it needs to be rectified.

Re: Roku TV Amazon Prime, Disney+ etc channels returns errors

Hi again @RokuDanny-R

The Roku failed yet again this morning and I managed to capture some basic information (it fails fairly regularly if I am honest).

App: BBC iPlayer, code 03100 (relates to watching live TV)

Last night it failed whilst playing a YouTube video. No error from the YT app other than "no connection".

I have grabbed basic logs from my router and can clearly see the Roku having a problem around 22:52

[Log from when Roku turned on...]

I have previously observed the Roku constantly hammering the router trying to get an DHCP lease even though one has been granted and when it is stuck doing that, it is unusable unless restarted.

Again, the AP and home LAN remained perfectly usable via other devices. I was able to play the exact same YT video on my phone, and in full quality, during the period when the Roku was claiming no/poor Internet.

Is there an open support ticket or something I can subscribe to so that I have some idea when a fix will be rolling out?

Note: ALL apps and channels are affected - it is a fundamental stack failure.

Re: Roku TV Amazon Prime, Disney+ etc channels returns errors

Hi @kareemlee,

Did you ever get any response from tech support? I'm in the UK, using a Roku streaming stick that got upgraded to 10.5, and seeing the exact same errors as you across all apps.

Danny said a few months back that they were working on a fix, but there's been no more real info.

Re: Roku TV Amazon Prime, Disney+ etc channels returns errors

Hello,

If I remember correctly tech support contacted me sometime in Dec to get a beta version of the next update (I had pretty much given up at that point). I believe the 2nd update I received sometime in Dec finally fixed the issues I had (I did not get a downgrade to the previous software before 10.5). So you are pretty stuck having to wait for a while until the Roku software team fixes the issues affecting your particular model with the next software upgrades. I contacted tech support in November and it took over a month to get a fix because they will not allow or cannot allow a downgrade to a previous software version that worked for your model.
Hopefully, they will fix your issues soon. I still believe the ROKU interface is better than the competition (not for long the way things are going) but they really screwed up when they forced an update at the end of last year that could not be reversed! Corporate doesn't seem to care and they should get rid of the idiot who thought that was a good idea. They lost many customers over this.
