Reverts to home screen

On one tv roku reverts to Home Screen after random time - happens on YouTube TVs and Amazon - Netflix works ok. Other rokus/tv’s work fine on same internet. Tried second roku express - same result - returns to home also. Tried posted solutions - factory reset - delete channel restore - unplug all - even let it rest overnight? And this setup has worked well previously???

any good ideas - would buy new tv but not sure it would solve issue?

thank you!

Could your random time actually be four hours?

The Roku "Bandwidth saver" function kicks in when the Roku has received no user input in four hours.  It asks if you are still watching, and if it receives no response, it exits the current stream and returns the Roku to its home page.  If it sits there a while with no further input, it may then launch your screen saver, depending on your screen saver settings.

You can turn the Bandwidth feature on and off via Roku menu path Settings > Network > Bandwidth saver

Note that some individual channels may have a similar feature with their own time settings.

Re: Reverts to home screen

Hey @Bbeedy2212

Does the issue also happen to other channels aside from YouTube TV and Amazon? If any or all apps aren't loading, it is likely from a failed automatic update. Customers have reported doing the following to resolve their issue:

  • Go to Settings > System > System update > Check Now
  • The device should then proceed to hang/freeze and reboot. Immediately do the above again, and the update should apply. After it finishes, back out once then: Settings > System > Power > System restart
  • The device should do the long restart with a red screen then go to your Home screen. You should then be able to load and watch channels as usual.

Please let us know if there's any difference after.

All the best,
Kariza

Thanks _ I think I have done this but will try again. Only use three channels - Youtube tv and Amazon come on fine and after about 3 minutes revert to home scree - Netflix hangs in there ??  other smart and dumb tv's in same house work fine - all on same internet feed - tried second roku on troublespot - same result

Re: Reverts to home screen

Thanks for the update, @Bbeedy2212

If the issue is only with Amazon Prime Video and Youtube TV, it's an indication that there likely an issue within those specific channels that need to be addressed with an update from the channel developer. Channels on Roku are created and maintained by each channel publisher; therefore, we recommend reaching out to their support team directly to share your feedback.

You can contact them here: Amazon Prime Video Support, YouTube TV Support

We appreciate your understanding.

All the best,
Kariza
