I have this same issue. I have a Paramount+ Essential subscription that I subscribe to thru Paramount. Why isn’t it recognized on the Roku channel? When we try to watch sports, etc, Roku tells me we need to subscribe. There doesn’t seem to be a way to pull in our subscription so that we can watch what we’re supposed to be able to watch.
If you have a subscription directly with Paramount+, you have to use their standalone app. That app and "Paramount+ on The Roku Channel" have mutually exclusive subscriptions.

As advised by @renojim, you can only access a subscription depending on where you have subscribed and the type of subscription. In this case, you may be subscribed directly to Paramount+, and you can only access the subscription through their app and not with The Roku Channel.
