Yesterday, I did a check for updates on my Roku Ultra. Every since, I 've had two problems. The time no longer shows on the top right like it use to and the Sling Channel is giving me fits. Sling will not show any video when I click on any of it's channels and will time out and eventually cause a Roku reboot.
This is what I've tried to no avail:
Deleted the sling channel, rebooting the Roku fro system settings, reinstalled Sling channel. Note that after this Sling still had all my login credentials stored and still has me logged in. I tried logging out of Sling and Back in and it's made no difference on the problems with the Channel.
I once again ran the check for updates in Rock Settings. There's still no clock showing on the top right of the screen and it's made no difference with Sling.
Sling will let me watch some on demand things but if I try to watch any live TV with Sling it causes the problems and eventual reboot. I do not know if the time not displaying on the top right of the regular Roku screens (not in a channel) is connected or not, just happened to notice it no longer displays the time.
This is my model # and Software version after the last update:
Finally got it fixed, but it took doing a Factory Reset on the Roku to finally work.
I had even left the roku unplugged for a couple hours after removing sling and rebooting to no avail. So I did a factory reset and set it up again. Now Sling live TV is working again and the time is once again being displayed on the Roku home screen which makes me think the issue was deeper than just the Sling Channel. I'm sure of this because the Sling Channel has nothing to do with the time being displayed on the Roku home page when no channels are open. Something in the Roku software itself must of got corrupted.
Another thing I noticed is that some channels (including Sling) must store their login information in the cloud. After the factory reset on the Roku and installing my channels, some are still automatically logged in (Sling, HBOmax, etc.) and some required me putting the login information back in (Prime, Disney+, etc.). I don't know if it's stored on Roku's servers or the Channel Owners servers, but it's stored somewhere outside of the Roku itself.
