no surprise that the latest version of RMP has not fixed audio player/screensaver issue.
that was the "rumor" since there has been no official word on this.
I will note that the behavior has changed.
previously pressing the down key would usually trigger out of screensaver and play the next file. now this works sporadically. at times the down key will only trigger out of screensaver but play will still be stopped. sometimes play key will work, but then instead of playing the next file, the last file will replay. sometimes the play key will have no effect. sometimes the right key will work and play the next file. there does not seem to be an obvious pattern to the behavior.
I posted this in a different sub-forum and it has been moved so I thought I should elaborate since almost a years worth of posts are located elsewhere.
a brief history is that with the previous version of RMP you had the opportunity to listen to audio files and experience the impressive Roku Screensavers. then Roku decided to "upgrade" RMP and that combination has been lost. at first the Roku Screensavers were replace with a bouncing box similar to the ancient Pong game. a subsequent revision went back to the native Roku screensaver but that lead to the issue of RMP audio player not being able to function in continuous play mode.
one additional comment. I find it odd that this has been moved to the Channels sub-forum if the root issue is reportedly with the OS.
Thanks for the post.
Can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model
-serial number
-device ID
-software OS/version
(these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing
Once we have this information we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate team to investigate further.
Thanks,
Danny
Danny, RokuChris has confirmed that this is an OS issue, and he can't change it within RMP itself. Hopefully the upcoming OS 10.0 will have a solution, but I didn't have my Premiere registered as a beta member so I haven't seen that version yet.
I've since added my Premiere to the beta, but of course anything I discover there is covered by the NDA, so can't be disclosed until 10.0 is released. I think that is going to be very soon.
I believe that the RMP/OS/Screensaver issue has in one form or another been around since the introduction of version 5 and is well documented.
please see that the resume issue gets some attention as well.
Thanks for the post.

the software versions are in the title and are up to date.
Roku model is in the first post.
how to reproduce the issue:
use the RMP to play audio files in continuous play with the screensaver turned on.
the RMP will play a few files then stop.
just triggering out of the screensaver will sometimes resume playing audio files.
sometimes pressing play is required, at times this replays the last file played.
sometimes play will not work and it requires exiting play mode and selecting another file to play.
if the RMP does continue playing it will stop again after a file or two.
the limited time I used to verify the screensaver problem was still there, I did not discover any obvious pattern to how the keys react, but if the screensaver issue is resolved all that becomes irrelevant.
Thanks for the post.

RMP 5.5 b 9 April 5, 2021/OS 9.4.0
RMP playing audio files in continuous play mode with the screensaver turned on still stops after a couple of files are played.
RMP 5.5 b 9 April 5, 2021/OS 9.4.0 b 4210-46 April 7, 2021
a new RMP update and a new OS update.
I was hopeful that this would be the one, unfortunately it is a disappointment.
RMP playing audio files in continuous play mode with the screensaver turned on still stops after a couple of files are played.
it is coming up on a year of this. maybe it is time to scrap this experiment and start over.
