How come when I purchase channels on the website they do not pop up on my home device?
They won't show up immediately. Check for updates from Settings->System->System update. Keep in mind that if you have an older device some newer channels won't be compatible and if you have a really old device it's possible that no channels can be added any longer.

One other possibility comes to mind. If "on the website" refers to the CHANNEL's own website, you'll need to install that channel's own channel app from the Roku Channel store and log into it with your credentials from that channel's account.
