Promoting Conspiracy Theories and Violence

I am absolutely stunned that Roku is offering Q Channel - QAnon Channel. And even worse, you have it categorized as Educational. Looks like it might be time to use another streaming device. I'm am so incredibly disappointed.  https://www.mediamatters.org/qanon-conspiracy-theory/roku-offering-entire-channel-dedicated-qanon?fb...

Re: Promoting Conspiracy Theories and Violence

I am absolutely stunned that Roku is allowing a post linking to a far left propaganda site like Media Matters.

So there.

Re: Promoting Conspiracy Theories and Violence

I am very angry that ROKU deleted the Q Channel.

I was very much looking forward to it. I watch the praying Medic and In Pursuit of Truth daily.

Just because you have fallen for the lies of the MSM does not make you right.

What gives you the right to demand ROKU remove this channel?

The content providers dig into the truth of what is going on in our world.

ROKU has many many "news" channels that I consider to be conspiracy theorists, like MSNBC for example. Rachael Madcow just recently won a liable suit by stating that what she does on MSNBC is not news but entertainment.  So I say to ROKU, bring back the Q Channel, or I'll be looking for an alternative to ROKU.

oh....and media matters?

Really?

If ever there was a conspiracy theorist publication, it is media matters.

They are nothing but lies.

I challenge anyone to compare the truths presented by QAnon vs the lies of Media Matters

Personally, I didn't know or care anything about them, wouldn't have added their channel, and only had my interest piqued by some anonymous weasel who appointed herself censor and demanded the removal of, I guess, a channel with a political viewpoint different than hers. I am amazed to see that Roku actually responded by pulling the channel (and thanks for that info, I wouldn't have looked because I wouldn't suspect Roku would censor it, since they don't censor porn). Add to that the failure to launch an HBO Max channel for reasons that have already been discussed, and **bleep** Roku.

Re: Promoting Conspiracy Theories and Violence

As long as they are doing nothing illegal, both channels should be allowed to be available. Just because someone doesn't like their content doesn't mean they should be silenced. If you're far left, you're going to hate one. If you're far right, you're going to hate the other. Just suck it up. They have the right to express their opinions and points of view. Whether you agree with their content is immaterial.

Who is @Anonymous anyway? A Roku employee? Is this Roku censoring whatever opinions they want just by posting a single anonymous complaint and responding to it? If Roku is going to censor what content is available or not, they gosh darn well better spell out explicitly what their procedures are.

Re: Promoting Conspiracy Theories and Violence

Stupid move, Roku. I've owned a Roku since 2012. I currently have 6 units. If you feel the need to politically take sides, I feel the need to replace with a different streaming system....there are plenty available which are easier to use and more reliable. I stuck with you out of loyalty but if you don't reverse such a politically motivated and discriminatory decision I will be forced to leave the Roku community.

Too bad, a couple of my units are ready for upgrading. Guess what I won't be buying?

Re: Promoting Conspiracy Theories and Violence

Roku made the channel available to those of us that were interested. I had to add it in order to access it. To remove it because it angered some people was wrong. If you don’t want to watch don’t add it. I don’t like adult swim so I don’t partake in that. There was something for everyone. If you are here to accommodate every walk of life then do the right thing and put the channel back for those of us that want it.
