Is it possible to clear all cable company authentication from our Roku 3?
We use a Dish Network subscription to authenticate on our Roku 3. It has always worked great, rarely needing to re-do the authentication process.
Then, a family friend visited for a few days. She installed and logged in to the MLB app, using her Spectrum Cable credentials. Shortly after she left, we uninstalled the MLB app from the Roku 3.
Now, when we turn on the Fox News app, we almost always get a warning that says something like: Your Spectrum subscription does not allow access to this channel. To watch the Fox News app, we need to close the pop-up, then re-authenticate with our Dish Network credentials every session.
Is there a way to completely delete any Spectrum remnants from our Roku 3?
Have you restarted your Roku 3 lately? That's the first thing to try. Just unplug the power for a few seconds and plug it back in.
Yes. Several times via power cord. Also via system restart (or whatever the menu name is). Doesn't help at all.
Have uninstalled apps/channels. Then power cut. Reinstall after back on. No fix.
I don't know if it will help, but you can try the "clear the cache" routine - using your Roku remote press Home 5 times, Up arrow once, Rewind (<<) twice, and FF (>>) twice. If you do it properly your device should restart on its own after several seconds. Some have claimed it's a magic cure for various things while others have said it does nothing. Once it restarts check for updates from Settings->System->System update.
If that doesn't work, the only other thing I can suggest is a factory reset.
After the series of button presses, it restarted.
Went to Fox News app. Got the same error pop-up as before:
On the bright side, I am able to report the exact error message:
Unauthorized
Access to this program is not included in your Spectrum TV subscription
I hate to say it, but I think a factory reset is your only hope.
Thanks for your help with this.
After trying all of these suggestions (and more), I did the factory reset. Appears to be working properly now.
Roku should definitely have a setting/option that will completely delete all authentications (other than factory reset).
I'm glad to hear you got it working. I couldn't agree more that it shouldn't have taken a factory reset to clear out the information.
