Subject line says it all. Some videos have replies that are just as informative/entertaining as the video itself and would be a nice feature to be able to brows comments/replies like you can in other YouTube Apps available on tablets and PC. Using the Roku YouTube App/channel only--not mirroring.
The channel is developed by Youtube so any features like that would need to be addressed by Youtube developers.
As you indicated, you can accomplish the above with mirroring or connecting your laptop/mobile device/phone via HDMI to your television and access this feature in that manner.
I figured the YouTube developers could do this--of course. My request was for ROKU to request/ask/persuade/intimidate/coerce/bribe/etc. the YouTube developers to do this. Why would YouTube even read a request email from me? ROKU has more clout and would be much more in the position to have this implemented.
Also, if I wanted to mirror from another device I wouldn’t have bothered with this request.
Thanks for your input.
Many times users request features that are already accomplished by other devices. When I was new to Roku, I used to wonder why Roku didn't have browser like some other devices. I also experienced the Youtube "no comments" feature.
There were alot of features missing from my Roku devices that I was used to having when watching this same content on my laptops/computers.
Quickly realized that if I wanted the experience I was used to on my laptop, I should probably just connect my laptop via HDMI cable directly to my TV and watch in that manner. Other things I could cast to my TV via the Roku device via mobile devices and/or DLNA sources.
Essentially, since these other methods already exist, it was a better effort of my time to just figure how to accomplish my desired task than to try and ask developers and companies to change their OS and channel platforms to implement my niche wants.
There is certainly no harm in asking, and I can simply point you to the Wishlist (Suggest-a-Feature) section of this forum (https://community.roku.com/t5/Suggest-a-Feature/bd-p/Wishlist), or provide you with options to accomplish the task you want with already available methods. You now have both and can proceed as you wish. One will likely get you faster results than the other, though.
