Yesterday I set all 3 of my Exp 4K+ to remove the personalize ads selection as per the suggestion given her to stop the screen freeze. This morning while watching Motor Trend channel on Spectrum app, the screen froze when a commercial ended and left the commercial screen while the audio continued to the show. 

So, it would appear that the trick of deselecting Personalize Ads is not the solution to this problem.

So, guys, what is the deal. Seems like this all started with your last update. Everyone here is sending details of when the problem happens and all are providing the info you request, but we just keep getting the ‘we are working on it’ line. CAN WE GO BACK TO PRIOR VERSION, which seemed to work for everyone??  Seems odd that all the holiday sales are out and this issue still isn’t fixed. Marketing trick to make us buy a better Roku device?  I think it more likely makes a user want to switch brands instead. Might even ditch some stock at this point.

Your market share is about to take a hit if you don't get off your collective duffs and get your "Technical Support Crew", inept as they must be, to forget about enhancing a defective user experience and get back to the basic model of a product operating properly and giving the customer what it has paid for.  It is a very short walk from  this forum to the stock boards where trashing the Roku name can have devastating effects on the stock price and the future health of the company. If word gets out of your inability to correct the defects that you introduced into your products under the guise of "enhancements" which turn out to be only "bugs" for thousands of users, no one will want to buy your products.  If we don't get results soon, your reputation will become as worthless as many of the crypto companies filing for bankruptcy right now.

I have the same problem using YoutubeTV. Screen freezes on a playback (mostly after a fast-forwarding), but audio continues.  Only way to get out is to go back to another show, but it returns when I try to access the same show/same time. 

I will try the "remove the Youtube TV app and reinstall" method to see if that works. Will update after a few days.

Your fix has worked for me for about six hours on my model 3941RW Roku Express 4K+.

There does seem to be an issue with personalized ads. I'm going to keep this unit on a channel that has reliably caused the freezing video with continuing audio.  I'll post my results tomorrow.

This may be proof you can never have too many Jims.

Another possible solution (until Roku fixes this as it should):

Brand new, 1 day-old Roku Express 4K+ connected to 1080p TV. Worked fine for one day, then same as above for everyone else.

Fix? I went into Settings - Display Type. Default was "Automatic". I changed it "Manual" and matched the setting to my TV, "1080p TV". All is well (for now at least).

Thanks. I'll try this on all 3 E4K units I have. It makes sense that the screen could freeze because the signal for the screen resolution somehow gets garbled in the Roku.

I also wonder if the Roku is not providing data back to the mothership based upon your viewing activity and when it does try to transmit back, it somehow kills the video feed. Nothing we can do about that. Just thinking out loud here.

Does Roku have a Facebook page? That might be a good place to start crowing about the dismal response to this problem.

Anyone here know what is the other brand that will work with the Spectrum app? I know Firestick will not work. But there was at least one other besides Roku.

As a sidenote, I keep getting these silly emails from Roku that say I just earned another "badge" for the number of emails posted. So, what do these badges get me other than slow service. I kinda view the badges as a digital purple heart.

I was looking thru the settings menu when I was changing the screen def from auto to 1080p for my TVs. Looking in the Advanced System Settings I found a choice for Advanced Display Settings. In there is a choice for Auto-adjust display rate. It was turned off in all 3 E4K units. So, I turned it on. It said it makes the refresh rate the same as the native refresh rate. I'm not sure what that really means. But suspect it means is matches the broadcast refresh rate. If that is true, then I could see where the screen could freeze because it is refreshing at a different rate than the broadcast for a moment and then stays out of sync. 

I realize that I changed two things, the resolution setting to 1080p and turned on the auto-refresh rate. So, if the problem does not go away, I will not know which one solved it. But that can be figured out by turning on of the changes back to where it was and seeing if the problem returns.

I'll report back if I am successful. If I am, maybe Roku will offer me a job. I know the work load sure won't be excessive. 😜
