Re: October Can't run Channel error

I'm having the same exact problem.

My Roku Details are below.  The problem started after it updated to 10.5.  I also had just removed the SD card since I read that might be the problem, it didn't work.

Re: STILL NOT Resolved: Channel launch issue - "Can't run channe...

Sorry to hear that but it appears that factory reset is the only way to solve this, although I'm still not sure I've heard of anyone who has done a factory reset, followed by a software update to the lastest version, who isn't still having issues.

I just checked and for my Roku 3 there still hasn't been any new update after the one on Oct 6 (Version 10.5.0 Build 4174-04) which started this issue.  If no update comes out today I will go done the factory update route, as painful as that will be.  It's really sad that the Roku admin hasn't said anything recently on this thread.

Re: October Can't run Channel error

I've found that manually running an additional update check as soon as you receive a major Roku update can make sure you have the latest versions of all your channel apps and prevent many update-related problems (Settings > System > System update > Check now).

And for good measure, I always do a System Restart after updating. From the Roku home screen use menu path Settings > System > System restart. (On a Roku TV the menu path is Settings > System > Power > System restart.)

Thank you for the suggestions, however I've done all those steps and it's still not working.

Re: Error: Can't run channel. Prime, Sling & bunch of others

I am having the same issue. All of the channels we try to watch seem to not be able to reinstall from the network. This problem started yesterday. The day before there was no problem. I have attempted to update software and restart several times.

Re: Error: Can't run channel. Prime, Sling & bunch of others

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts.

At this time, would recommend checking for a software update through:
Settings > System > System update > Check now

After checking for an update, we would recommend powercycling your device through:
Settings > System > Power > System Restart

Then checking to see if the issue is resolved.

Please keep us posted what you find out.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Error: Can't run channel. Prime, Sling & bunch of others

I updated the software and restarted the device. The latest update was received in July and last check was performed again today but still see the same issue. It works for 10 minutes or so then exits back to Roku home screen. After 10:30PM, Roku works great. Looks like server is having issue streaming when under load especially with high resolutions.

Re: OS 10.5.0 Build 4167-51 - Error: Can't run channel. Prime, Sling & bunch of others

RokuDanny-R:

I called this afternoon and talked to someone, and got an email with my support request number (4902518).  No, the problem is still not fixed.  I tried what you said but there is no software update available for my device from the version that installed on Oct 6th (see #1 below for version), which is when the problem started.  Here is the info that you requested to help fix the problem:

1.  Roku device model:  4200X - Roku 3

    Device Serial number:  1GN39N201194

     Device ID:  Not shown

     Software/OS Version Number:  10.5.0, Build 4174-04

2.  Does the issue occur on a specific channel:  No, it occurs on virtually all channels, including Netflix and Amazon Prime.  See attached screenshot.  On two of our channels, however, HBO Max and AcornTV, it does not give the error message but just flashes the name of the channel for a second and then goes to a black screen.  When I hit the home key after this happens for these two channels, all the channel thumbnails just show a spinning arrow, and to see them again I have to restart.

3.  Tracker ID when this issue occurs:  94-404-455

4.  When did you start to see the issue:  Oct 6, 2021, after the last software update.

5.  Steps to reproduce the issue:  Try to load any channel on the Roku.

6.  Screenshot of any error messages:  See attached.

Hope this helps.  Please let me know if you need any other info, as the device is useless right now.
