Not able to login to Rakuten Viki

The app forced me to login this evening.  I originally registered with Viki using a Google connect login. I have not had to re-authenticate this service in perhaps months.  You could once re-authenticate with a QR code or with a generated passcode entered at the Viki website. I am now only offered an email/password login choice.

When I now try to login with my Google email and password, all I get is a "mismatch" error.

I opened a trouble ticket with Viki support.  The site has a note that it is a Roku error.

Any ideas?

Re: Not able to login to Rakuten Viki

Can you sign into the Viki website?

https://www.viki.com/sign-in

They couldn't possibly state that any inability there is a Roku issue.

See my response in the following thread about why you can't use a QR code anymore:

Re: Not able to login to Rakuten Viki

This has nothing to do with logging in to the Viki website.  That works perfectly, as it has since I first registered with Viki in September of 2010, using a Google id connect login.

I was talking about the one method of logging in to the Roku app that was always available;  that is, an app generated passcode that you would simply enter at the Viki website to re-authenticate. I never used a QR code process to re-authenticate. Below is the link to what Viki posted at their support site. Is there some compelling reason for me to disbelieve it and dismiss it out of hand??  Is there some secret I am unaware of? Why Viki doesn't mention the longstanding passcode method of authentication is a mystery to me.

I also opened a support ticket with Viki. I should also mention that Viki is working perfectly in my Android Google TV platform device and My Samsung Tizen OS TV, with all the original authentication features that were once available in Roku OS.

Re: Not able to login to Rakuten Viki

@Pompey, maybe I'm missing it, but nowhere on that page do I see them saying it's a Roku "error" other than the QR code method is no longer allowed.  I do see this:

"If you're using a social login method (e.g., Google ID, Facebook ID, Apple ID, Rakuten ID, etc),

Reset your password here viki.com/forgot_password to access your account, or for more information please go here."

and this:

"If you have not set email/password login method, please update your email address via a computer web browser here watch.viki.com/account ".

Perhaps you should give that a try.  Whatever method you were using that involved going to their website in any way is no longer available.  Yes, it's a Roku requirement.  Your Google ID and password simply isn't going to work on a Roku device.  That doesn't make it a "Roku error" and I don't believe Viki would use that terminology either.
