Netflix and Disney + are the only things that ever works without fail.

Ever since I got my Roku the problems have only gotten worse. The time on the tv is never right no matter what I do. Yes ive put my time on automatic and manual and it still doesn’t work. Max doesnt boot up half the time and the other half it wont play anything when it does boot up. Hulu always has me sign in and when I do it give me an error and I waste my time. Nowadays Prime Video has me sign in everytime I click the app and it tells me that there’s no network connect so it won’t let me log in, or it tells me my device time is off so it doesn’t let me do anything. Other than Prime Video, the newest addition to the issue is that YouTube will load the thumbnails of videos and I can search through them no problem but it will show no preview when hovering over a video and when I click on a video it shows an indefinite black screen and never plays. I know that this is a problem with Roku because when I use a different non Roku branded device it works totally fine with no problems at all.

Re: Netflix and Disney + are the only things that ever works without fail.

Hi @Brynks,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

We understand you are having trouble with the channels on your Roku device because they were not loading. We're happy to help.

Reset your Wi-Fi or router

If you are having trouble streaming content with your Roku device, you may need to reset your internet connection and restart your Roku device as well.

  1. Locate your internet router and reset it by doing the following:
    1. Unplug it from its power source. Wait 10 seconds, then plug it directly into a power outlet
    2. Press the Reset button located on the bottom or back of the device and wait for a few minutes, then try loading content on your Roku device again
  2. If you need help with this step, contact your internet service provider

Restart your Roku device

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote.

  2. Scroll down and select Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
  5. Select System restart.
  6. You can also reset your Roku device by unplugging it:
    1. Power off your Roku device.
    2. Unplug it from its power source.
    3. Wait 10 seconds, then plug it directly into a power outlet.
    4. Turn it on and try accessing content again.

For more information, please see this support article on issues playing content on your Roku device.

We would recommend trying to see if that resolves your issue. Please keep us posted.

Best regards,
The Roku Community Team

This has already been done countless times to no avail.

Thanks for keeping us posted, @Brynks!

We appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have taken so far and would like to gather more information about this problem you had.

Can you please provide the following details below?

  • What device are you using right now? (e.g. Roku Express, Roku Streambar, Roku TV)
  • How far is your Roku device from your network router?
  • Do you have cellular data so we can try connecting your device to your hotspot?

We look forward to hearing from you soon and gathering your details.

Thanks,
The Roku Community Team

TLC Roku TV

The connection is excellent

Connecting to hotspot, then connecting back to WiFi only makes YouTube work. Nothing else.

Thanks for the follow-up, @Brynks!

We appreciate the details you have provided, and we'd like to get additional information about this problem you have.

Can you please provide the following information below?

  • Could you provide us with a video clip?
  • Regarding this issue, does it appear or show on your other Roku devices or TVs, or is this the only Roku TV that is having issues?
  • Can you give us the error messages or codes that you are getting?
  • Does only the YouTube channel function?

We'll wait for your response.

Thanks,

Re: Netflix and Disney + are the only things that ever works without fail.

A video clip of what? There nothing to see, apps don’t load like I stated before, the time on my tv is usually always off regardless if it’s on manual or automatic, and the times that it isn’t, it makes no difference. Netflix and Disney plus are the only two apps that work without fail or having to do anything special.
YouTube can be temporarily fixed by joining my hotspot, opening YouTube, going back out and reconnecting to my WiFi, until it decides it doesn’t want to work again.
Prime Video gives me two ways to sign in but I get a failed to generate code everytime. Sometimes before it goes to the two ways to sign in screen it tells me my device time is wrong.
Max will continuously load but sometimes it will let me browse the video selection but it will never let me play any of it regardless if I connect to my hotspot and then connect back to my wifi or if I’m just on WiFi.
This is a Roku problem due to the fact that these apps and websites can work on mobile devices and anything but a Roku Tv product.

@Brynks Have you tried to factory reset the TV?

That’s probably the only thing I haven’t done. I was hoping I wouldn’t need to. I’ll try it later and post how it goes

Re: Netflix and Disney + are the only things that ever works without fail.

During factory resetting and putting in my email to set it back up it wouldn’t even send me an email, nor would it put up a QR code to use. I had to use my hotspot instead which I do not want to have to keep doing.
After getting it setup back up I go on to Prime Video and there is no change at all. It still will not allow me to sign in while on my WiFi. IMG_6023.jpeg

And max loads indefinitely
