Temporary Workaround:

Search for and add the separate MSNBC  Live channel.

After the trial period of 10 minutes, you will be asked for sign in information.

I gave my Verizon info, same as for NBC app, and it worked fine.

Oddly, this app does not show in my normal channel listings.

It does show, however, when I select "See All."

This gives access to MSNBC live.

Could you please provide us with a contact number for NBC’s Roku app support team?  That should be information that Roku has on hand.  NBC sure doesn’t provide it.

I am in the MSNBC Live app on Roku. 

Every few minutes the screen flips back to the previous screen, and you have to click "Watch Now" to get back to the live channel.

Why is this happening?

I ended up downloading the NBC News App, once it opens, at the top there are 3 options, NBC News, Msnbc and Today show.. seems to work fine.. after a couple of hours, it goes back to main menu, guess it doesn't think I am watching.

So the MSNBC Live app is a different app than the MSNBC option under the NBC app?

On my Samsung television, not ROKU. if I choose live I get MSNBC!

it's 11/22 and still happening on my Samsung TV NBC app + Spectrum cable log in. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling app. Have tried signing in and out of Spectrum. Nothing. So annoying.

May we first know which specific Roku streaming player you are having this issue with? We also need to make sure that you have performed the troubleshooting steps precisely to work. It should be in this order: remove the app > reboot your device > and re-install it. 

Furthermore, have you tried to reach out the Customer Support of MSNBC regarding this matter? If not, we highly recommend it, as they are the ones who created, maintained, and updated their app on the Roku streaming platform. You can also directly contact their phone number at 1-212-664-4444.
