I already have a #Crunchyroll subscription but #RokuChannel Crunchyroll only gives the option to make a new one and to get a free trial, there is no option to simply login to an existing account.
I have checked both the #Roku and #Crunchyroll websites and there is no option to link them either.
If you have your own subscription, install and use the standalone Crunchyroll app. Services on The Roku Channel are ONLY accessible by subscribing through The Roku Channel.
The problem with that is that for some weird reason the RokuChannel version apparently has show(s), at least one anyway, that the standalone doesn't. Unfortunately it is one of my favorites too, "Ghost Hunt".(I haven't seen it since they took over Funimation and closed down its streaming service.)
Using the Search from the Roku main menu locates it, both the show and individual episodes, in the "Crunchyroll on RokuChannel" but even going through the entire catalogue of shows in the standalone Crunchyroll, in "A-to-Z" mode so I can be sure not to simply overlook it, fails to have it show up.
It's possible the show is no longer available and the Roku database is out of date, especially as it is both a new month and a new year. There have been similar problems with other shows.
Unless someone with a Crunchyroll subscription through TRC can verify, I would not consider it reliable.
When attempting to login to a channel for which you have a subscription, you may see a screen like this:
This is an offer to pre-enter your email address, using the address you have associated with your Roku account, as indicated. If you used a different email address with this channel, then do NOT click "Continue", click "Use different email" instead and proceed to enter the correct address.
Same! Tried to watch Space Battleship Yamato and you can’t watch it on the crunchyroll app. So frustrating…
Hi, @Whiterabbit1127
Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.
We appreciate you for inquiring for support, and we're here to help.
May we know if you are directly subscribed to the Crunchyroll app or through Roku? Also, are you accessing the stand-alone Crunchyroll app of the streaming service through The Roku Channel?
Keep us posted, we're here to assist you.
Thanks,
The Roku Community Team.
THanks for replying!
I am directly subscribed to Crunchyroll app and not through Roku. When I do a search on Crunchyroll app for Space Battleship Yamato it says subscribe to Crunchyroll on Roku?
I have a TCL tv that runs on the Roku platform. I sunscribed to the stand alone Crunchyroll app.
From Crunchyroll app
Thanks for keeping us posted, @Whiterabbit1127
As checked by our team, the content Space Battleship Yamato (1977) is available on Crunchyroll through The Roku Channel. However, is not available on the stand-alone Crunchyroll app.
For this matter, we advise you to contact the Crunchyroll support and inquire further about the missing content on their app which is available on The Roku Channel.
To contact them, please refer to Crunchyroll Support.
We hope this will be sorted out soon, and let us know if you have further concerns or inquries.
Thanks,
The Roku Community Team.
