You didnt mention your Roku model # or firmware version (Settings/System/About) or app version (highlight the app and press Options (*) on the remote).

The Hulu app updated yesterday (8/18) to version 6.48.1 - this appears to be causing this issue on some devices.

Reinstall doesnt seem to fix it, but you can try regardless:

1) Remove the Hulu app (Highlight the app, press the Options (*) button on the remote, then Remove)

2) RESTART the Roku (Settings/System/System restart/Restart) <-- MUST DO THIS HERE!!!

3) Re-install the Hulu app

You need to contact Hulu about it:    https://help.hulu.com/s/contactsupport

5 months later and I’m still having this problem with hulu

Streaming services either won't open or close as soon as they get to a home page

Suddenly when I try turning on a streaming service like hulu I keep getting kicked back to the main home page I can't actually watch any of the streaming channels.

I can't find any previous posts from you and this account was just created today.

You didnt mention your Roku model # or firmware version (Settings/System/About) or app version (highlight the app and press Options (*) on the remote).

Have you tried removing/restarting/reinstalling yet?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts.

If you are still unable to resolve the issue after following the stops outlined by @StreamerUser, can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

Once we have this information, we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team for further investigation.

My roku express and roku premiere 4k (older model) both began kicking back to home screen. It was after the update for hulu app earlier in the day. I have a newer Samsung smart tv. I activated the Hulu app on it that I had never used yet. The hulu app from Samsung works fine. Wanted to watch (9 perfect strangers. Glad I had an alternative viewing option.

Hulu is returning to Home Screen with seconds of opening on both TVs. I have had no issues before last night. I can access on mobile. I have restarted. Cleared cache. Deleted app. And used remote on my phone. Will not work. I am not having issues with other channels. Please advise.

spENT hours on this, THE SOLUTION does not work spent 1 hour talking with hulu they say its a roku problem, you say its a hulu issue??? we just want it to work

I am having the same issue with Hulu. Yesterday morning it started going back to home screen on both of my TV's every time I try to load it. I've tried troubleshooting on both TV's & nothing works. All of my other apps are working fine, it's only Hulu that keeps crashing. Any suggestions?

The Hulu app updated to version 6.48.1 on Wednesday (not for the 27x0 models) - this is the cause of the behavior you are experiencing.

You can try to reinstall it:

1) Remove the app (Highlight the app, press the Options (*) button on the remote, then Remove)

2) RESTART the Roku (Settings/System/System restart/Restart) <-- MUST DO THIS HERE!!!

3) Re-install the app

(If you dont restart after removal, settings/cached data associated with the app are left behind and it wont be a clean re-install)

However, nearly all reinstallation reports indicate it doesnt work.

You'll need to report this to Hulu:  https://help.hulu.com/s/contactsupport
