How to change TV provider to antenna?

Once again, I am not sure if I am posting a question in the correct area.  Redirection, if necessary, is welcomed.

Originally, I was using a cable provider.  I have cancelled that service and using only a digital antenna and Streaming Stick 4K 3820R.   However, the name of the cable co. is still showing and I cannot figure out how to delete it.   I assumed it would automatically disappear.   I have both Restarted via the Settings menu and unplugged the A/C adapter for the Stick for 30 seconds, several times each.   I just realized I have not unplugged the Stick from the back of the TV - is that a possible answer?

Sincere Appreciation for any information...Thank You!

It might help to mention where you are seeing the name of the cable provider.  I've never seen one on my Roku, so I don't know you would even trying to get it to go away from.

@volleydrummer I assume you mean the input label on the TV when you are changing inputs.  Normally, you can go into your TV settings and edit that label to something else.

Re: How to change TV provider to antenna?

I don't think you understand what is meant by "tv provider".   Free access to broadcast stations via antenna does not qualify as having a "tv provider".

Cable-type channels want to be paid. When you have a paid subscription to a "tv provider" service that carries these channels (cable or satellite, for instance), the cable channels receive their pay out of the subscription fees you pay that tv provider. If you don't have a subscription that provides these channels, then you are not paying for them.

Many cable-type channels make their content available for internet streaming via a channel app for those paying for the channel through a tv provider as mentioned above.  You just need to log into each of their channel apps using your login credentials for that tv provider.

That service doesn't have to be a bloated cable or satellite service however.   There are several services you can subscribe to and run on a Roku that may carry the channels you are interested in at a lower cost than paying for cable or satellite. Ones that come to mind to check out for any particular channel would include:

    • Hulu plus Live TV
    • Sling
    • philo
    • Directv Stream
    • YouTube TV
    • frndly
    • fubu
    • vidgo
    ... there may be others.

Savings in cord cutting usually come from picking and choosing which of the offerings you wish to pay for instead of paying for full blown cable or satellite services with scores of channels you never watch.

Re: How to change TV provider to antenna?

You can look at the stick and see that it has no antenna connection. It connects to power and HDMI.  The antenna connects to the TV.  The TV continues to have all of its functions after a device such as a Roku or DVD player is connected to it.
