Move to Russia or Nigeria.
Is that really true?
Something I searched up said the first gay characters appeared in US TV shows in the 70s, so sticking to TV from the 60s and before could work.
That should be more clarified in that openly gay characters. Gay characters have been on TV/movies for a long time, but usually stereotyped, or just passed off as goofy or effeminate. Think Uncle Arthur on Bewitched.
Basically, there is no magic filter. Don't blame Roku, as no device can filter like that. There are probably some apps and channels that focus on "family friendly" content. Otherwise, use due diligence and do some research on what you want to watch. There are probably web sites designed for those who want to avoid some subject matter, and will rate accordingly. Maybe others here can post some links.
Welcome to the Roku Community, @Mr_SolidMan!
We appreciate you reaching out for support. If you are referring to ads prompted on your Roku device, we'd like to offer some steps to help you manage it.
Roku allows users to customize their advertising experience by providing options to limit the types of ads presented on their devices. You can choose to hide specific ads that you find unappealing or restrict entire categories of ads, tailoring the content to better match your preferences and enhance your viewing experience.
Use the following instructions to opt out of ads that may contain sensitive content:
Checking a sensitive ad category means you are restricting the types of ads Roku will be able to show on your Home Screen and screensaver. Your ad preferences are immediately saved and will be applied to all streaming devices connected to your Roku account.
Here's the support article for reference: How to manage ad preferences
We hope this helps. let us know if you need further help.
Best regards,
Carly
