Is it possible to watch local channels on Roku?
The absolutely free way to watch local channels is to connect an Over-the-Air antenna to the back of your television.
You would watch the local channels using your television remote, not through the Roku device.
The alternative method is to purchase a Roku TV and an Over-the-Air antenna and then you would use your Roku remote navigate the channels.
Otherwise, there are some subscription services(paid) like Hulu and the like that offer local channels in their packages. There was a "free" streaming non-profit Channel called Locast but as @andyross pointed out this morning in another posting, they have since ceased operations as a result of an adverse court ruling.
Thank You.
Let me add one other option to supplement what @AvsGunnar said. There are more than just these two, but these are two I use, and can personally speak that they work well:
Both of these are devices with TV tuners and DVR capability. You would connect an antenna to the Tablo or Air TV device, then stream the content, live or recorded (DVR), to any of the Roku devices on your network. I'll recommend the devices that cost around $200, as they include hard drive and are simpler to set up (though the cheaper devices, adding a hard drive to them, aren't difficult).
