You need these steps:
1. Delete the app.
2. Settings > System > Power (If not applicable, skip to the next step) > System restart.
3. Once it restarts, reinstall the app.
You would also need to check the software version of your Roku device, as @AvsGunnar suggested. Also, check your internet connection on your device, as well as your router.

Yes, I did all of those and it still didn’t work.
If this is occuring on multiple devices, suggests it may be a Disney+ issue.
However, try eliminating Roku's Power Savings feature as a potential culprit. (Settings/System/Power/Power Savings/Auto Power Savings 20 min.) Disable this if available.
Otherwise, post both your Roku device models that this is occuring on. (Settings/System/About). Can't rule out a network issue yet. (unless this seems to you to be confined to the Disney+ Channel/app).
Disney plus has just stopped opening, when I try to open it shuts down but no error code given. I have switched off device, restarted it, deleted the app and reloaded, logged out off all devices on Disney plus website.
has anyone any other ideas on what I can do?
I have a Roku express bought less than a year ago
Thanks for posting here in the Community.
Did you restart your Roku device before reinstalling the channel? That step is crucial when performing the troubleshooting. If you haven't tried the suggested order (remove > restart > reinstall), we would recommend giving it a shot once again. We also suggest doing the restart from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.) > System restart.
Let us know if there's any difference after!
All the best,

Thanks for the suggestion but I did try that. Also did a factory reset.
had wondered if it was just Disney plus in general but Disney plus works on my phone app.
Yes it’s only happening on the Disney+ app.
Looks like Disney+ may be aware of the issue and is affecting other Roku users as well, but might be worth it to visit Disney Support. Look toward bottom of the website for Contact options. (https://help.disneyplus.com/csp)
I haven’t really checked if it’s affecting me yet. I’ve only used the app a couple of times, so I’m not sure. ~ Jordan
I apologize for the delay in response.
If the issue persists from one channel after attempting the suggestions above, videos from other channels play fine, contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help.
Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developer themselves. In this case, there's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from them.
You can reach them here: Disney+ Help Center
