Re: Foxnews - Unexpected Errors

Jump to solution

I started having issues ever since the Jul 7th release of ver 3.11 of FoxNews and FoxBusiness was pushed.   It’s happening on two different Roku systems. One is a TCL TV with Roku built-in, the other is a stick.

On the TV when I launch either app it opens but can’t navigate to anything and must remove and reinstall the apps.  Doing so requires you go through the connect process logging into foxnews.com/connect each time.  If I leave Fox for even a short period in the same day I have to repeat the process.

on the stick, each time I launch foxnews I’m prompted to sign in each time. In this case I don’t have to remove/re-add the channel.

it’s frustrating to have to go through this several times a day.

my login to see the fox channels is through Dish as my provider.

anyone else having similar issues?  Again my problems just started after July 7th.

Yes, I've had the same issues.  I complained until Roku gave me a phone call to explain it wasn't them. Then I complained to foxnews, but they give no answer and don't care.  So I gave up.  It seems to me that only Roku complaining to foxnews will get their attention.  It used to with great but now is junk and I've even wondered if it's politically motivated.  But I ran down all the options and got nothing. If you push it far enough, roku will call you. Use that opportunity to put them on the hook with fox for the rest of us. I would have, but fox doesn't answer at all and I'd already received my call before I realized fox wasn't going to answer.

This is completely bogus!  The Fox News app has been non-functional now for over a month!  This is a Roku issue, as it's happening on both Roku Express and Premiere devices!  I've already tried contacting Fox News, without a response!  I've tried deleting the app, rebooting the device, then reinstalling the app. Nothing worked!  If this issue is not fixed by the end of this month, I will start looking for a different provider, possibly Amazon.

I recently tried the Fox News App, again, but it still has problems.  It appears to be a different format, from a month ago, but it still freezes up in the middle of the segment.  All other apps work correctly.  Occasionally, when the home screen of the app comes up, it won't even allow you to "arrow down" to the segment you want to see.  It sits there on a highlighted "home", and you can do nothing except close it down.

I got in contact with Fox News, but they said the problem was on the Roku end.  It's a real shame no body has the expertise to fix the problem.

Looks like it's back to Pluto TV app, for my news, which is reliable.

My FNC app does exactly the same thing. It will load up just fine, but I cannot navigate anywhere inside it. Why is Roku keep saying it's an app issue, and FNC saying it's a Roku issue? Not to be a conspiracy theorist here, but is Roku trying to stop people from watching Fox News? I'd bet both MSDNC and CNN apps are working fine on Roku?

I've been having the same issue on my TCL Roku TV (model: 65s4, software 9.3.0 build 4182-30) with the # of complaints you'd think Roku would get a hold of Fox and state the problem and they'd work to get it resolved, instead of blaming each other on the matter and have customers bounce back and forth to try getting a fix.. ridiculously handled.

I either get the Unexpected Error when trying to retrieve the feed or Log in Provider loop when it fails.  Smh

Fox News??

Jump to solution

I realize there's probably a post that answers my question, but I don't have the time or patience to scroll through 100+ pages that start back in January. Did Roku dump Fox or not? Because I have the Fox News channel, but it goes to the main screen and freezes. Assuming these idiots parted ways with Fox. Can someone confirm please?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts.

Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.

If the issue remains unresolved, I'd recommend reaching out to Fox News directly to report the issue and request additional support. Many channels on the Roku platform are developed and maintained by the channel provider directly, and they'll be able to best assist. If other channels are working correctly, and you only experience this issue on the Fox News channel (app), that is likely an indication that the issue lies within that particular channel. In these cases, the channel provider will need to investigate the issue in order to help resolve it.

You can reach them here: https://www.foxnews.com/contact

Thanks,
Danny

I've done these "cookie cutter" fixs that have been replied to others, it's not resolving that matter!

The issue needs to be investigated by Roku and or Fox, instead of not  acknowledging a problem exists.

Tried all. Removed tile, restarted Roku TV, reinstalled Fox Tile.  Went through the process to reauthenticate using Dish as my provider.  Works great until I change the channel to something else. When I go back and open the Fox tile, it launches but “can’t navigate.” Any key pushed on the remote makes a clunky sound but is stuck on home.  The only way to get back on Fox News is to delete the tile and go through the reinstall process each time.

i did find a work around though.  I installed FoxNews on “Apple TV” and it works great every time.  Dealing with this on Roku is not worth the time to keep it working.
