Filmrise keep install itself then playing show

I downloaded Filmrise once, and, since it didn't meet my needs, I deleted it. (after selecting some shows to watch)
Since then, it has re-installed itself, perhaps dozens of times.  And I have repeatedly deleted it.
Recently, it started playing a show after it has installed itself.

I have my TV set to turn off at night, and this reinstallation and playing keeps the tv on all night and keeps me awake.

I have gone in, and deleted the shows I had, at one time, put on watchlist.  And it had added a show which it repeatedly plays. Ugh.

So now it automatically installs other apps I don't want as well as Filmrise

Help!  How can I stop this installing and playing?

Thanks!
MM

Re: Filmrise keep install itself then playing show

Hi @marvymuse,

Thanks for the post.

Does the issue only occur on FilmRise or all channels on your Roku device?

Have you tried performing a factory reset on your Roku TV to see if that resolves the issue you are experiencing?
For more information about how to perform a factory reset, visit our Support page here: How do I factory reset my Roku® streaming device?

Does this clear up the issue you are seeing? Please keep us posted.

Thanks,

Mary

Thanks for your reply!

The reinstalling, opening, selecting to add Gordon Ramsay's show and playing it -- in the middle of the night, is only Filmrise.

Roku tries to add an app almost every day, and I usually catch and reject. But it most often tries to install Filmrise, probably 10-15 time this week. It's annoying at minimum. Both Rokus try to upload the Filmrise app. I see the apps trying to install themselves as a necessary form of advertising, but it is getting out-of-hand.

Is there any way for Roku or me to stop it, e.g., block Filmrise, without losing all my Roku information, history and watchlists, or do I have to lose all my watchlists and other apps as well in order to to protect myself?

I really don't want to start from zero with Roku!

Re: Filmrise keep install itself then playing show

I typed a long message but this Roku Website deleted in. Pfui.

I wasn't willing to lose all my Roku info as suggested by Roku employess.

I took Roku out of TV and unplugged it.
Next day I plugged in in again. And it was fine.

I think others should do this first, instead of deleting their whole Roku system

Thanks for taking the time to write to me.

Re: Filmrise keep install itself then playing show

I have a Channel installed called My Movie Guide (lets you browse newly added movies to various Channels), and will then take you to the Channel the movie is playing if the Channel is installed.  If not, it will prompt you to install the Channel. (not automatic install though, but a prompt)

Do you have any Channels like that, ones where you are setting a watchlist or the like and they are automatically adding the Channels (ie. Filmrise) as the movie/show becomes available?

Also have to consider that if all your Roku's are under one account, what you add to one Roku device is also added to your other Roku device.  Is anyone else watching or installing Filmrise  in your house on the other Roku.

You can always add a PIN to your account so no Channels or charges can be made to your account w/o this number. (a box will pop up asking for pin) You go to your account at http://my.roku.com, select PIN, and then enable "Always require a PIN to make purchases and add items from the Channel Store"

Just in case your issue comes back or others seeking some help.

Good to know unplugging yours for a while seems to have corrected the issue.
