Some channels/apps have an inactivity timer (no interaction w/remote) as well as the Roku OS.
Try disabling the Automatic Power Saving feature (available on some models) and Bandwidth Saver (available on all models).

If still an issue, try powering your Express from a wall outlet using a USB power adapter (cell phone charging adapter 5volts, 1amp) instead of your TV USB port if currently doing so.
