Roku, I am getting this same error. It has been going on for a year now. I deleted the app a few times, and just installed again, hoping the issue would be resolved by now, but it is not. Very disappointing.
Is there a workable solution that does not include removing the app and reinstalling?

Could you tell us the exact error message you're receiving? Does it only happen on NFL or across other channels installed on your Roku?

The NFL app updated to version 5.0.0 today 8/4 - check to see if this resolves your issue.
Otherwise, reinstall the NFL app:
(Otherwise, if you dont restart settings/cached data associated with the app are left behind and it wont be a clean re-install)
Same issue, Channel is updated to 5.0 and there is NO option to remove. As soon as I launch to kicks me out.
@mwsaber If you subscribed through Roku Pay you'll need to cancel it first before you can remove the app (general issue with Roku Pay-based subscriptions). Once you cancel your subscription, you'll be able to remove (restart, reinstall) the NFL app.
The restart worked for us thank you we have been having this issue for a year and deleting the app restarting and adding the channel back fixed the issue
