I posted previously about using an Onn streaming stick from Walmart (about $15) that uses GoogleTV for the platform. I'm using it to just watch ESPN+ as the "Continue Watching" feature works as normal on their version of the app. Apparently a Moderator removed it because the post was missing a short time later. I'll see how long this one is allowed to stay up.
@jff6791 While I can appreciate you taking the time to post, that's not a workaround; that's what we're all having to do right now (every single time) that we didn't have to do before the culprit roku update took away the Continue Watching list. Doing the search every time, then finding the desired game, then choosing the preferred home or away broadcast (which sometimes is switched from previously), then potentially having to scroll far to the right (in the case of less recent games), is REALLY annoying.
@Asellus Good suggestion if you have the bundle. I don't, personally. One thing the ESPN app is lacking (as far as I can tell) is definitely the ability to easily navigate to content for a preferred team, especially if that team is saved as a favorite! (insert mind-blown emoji) Granted, that's on espn, not roku.
@bwparker11 Totally agree w/ the onus being on roku. Also a hockey fan btw.
I realize it's a first-world problem, but it's 2025 and it's a feature that was previously available and SHOULD NOT be difficult to fix.
Totally agree - that's why we started the thread. The team search gambit is just a method to get to same place (paused point of an event) via a more convoluted path. for a hundred bucks a year it should be (and was) simpler.

From a post on another forum that watches many app updates, there is an update for the ESPN app that fixes the Continue Watching bug. It will only work for stuff watched AFTER the update is installed.
"Roku App Wednesday Updates:
Peacock (6.2.11), ESPN (5.3.2025010200)
Test & verify...
NOTES:
1) Peacock update does not include Autoplay Next Episode profile setting support (otherwise respects OS Autoplay setting)
2) ESPN update restores Continue Watching functionality/row (only for content watched post-update)"
Yes, this is correct. I opened it up late last night after getting home from work and the app had a slightly different look with the same opening splash screen as the ESPN app on other platforms. And "Continue Watching" had been restored. My list had everything on it from before the loss of "Continue Watching" and everything since, so I don't think the "only for content watched post-update" is correct. At least it's not for me.
Yes, Continue Watching is restored!
@voicedude For me it also includes content I started watching even after the problem update occurred.
As a bonus, this update also addressed a gripe I had specifically w/ the Roku version of espn, which was not having a little thumbnail pop-up for fast-forward and rewind that shows where you are at that point in the recording...it's been added!
Kudos to everyone for teaming up on this, including Roku employees for addressing the issue.
Now, if only the Continue Watching list was the FIRST list displayed upon login. And someday, maybe someday, commercials breaks will be removed from the recordings...
I'll keep the commercial breaks in if the price of the subscriptions remains lower due to the advertising revenue! That being said, I look forward to testing this tonight on my TV when I get home.
