Re: Channels going back to Home screen

Danny - i’ve got the same problem. I finally got HBO Max to connect last week after following your advice. It worked for two days. Then yesterday, a HBO Max opened up, went to “which user“ screen, I clicked my name and after one or two minutes of spinning, Roku returned to the home screen. Same happened with other two users in my household. I checked Internet connection (other Roku channels work), removed and re-added HBO max, restarted (both by going to “restart system“ and by unplugging the Roku stick from my TV, while waiting a few minutes, and re-plugging it). The same thing keeps happening – returning to home screen.

). The same thing keeps happening – returning to home screen.

PLEASE HELP!

@RokuDanny-R

Do you have any updates on the problem of HBO Max returning to the Roku Home Screen after the user (me) responds to the HBO Max “Which User” screen?

Re: Roku keeps closing apps

I am having the same issue. This happens on both of my roku devices. Both are plugged into the wall for power. After 10-15 min of watching something, the app closes and returns to the roku home screen

Re: Roku keeps closing apps

What are the model numbers of the devices? What version of the Roku OS are you running on each?

Re: Roku keeps closing apps

Hi @KingMoltar,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Does the issue only occur on a specific channel or all channels on your Roku device? If you haven't tried removing the affected channel then re-installing it back in, we suggest starting with that.

Follow the steps below making sure you restart your Roku device before adding the channel again.

  1. Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press the Star button * to open the options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.

    • Note: If you are removing a subscription channel billed to your Roku account, you must cancel the subscription before you see the Remove channel option. For help identifying this type of subscription channel, read the detailed article about removing a channel.

  2. Restart your Roku device: If it is inconvenient to reach the power cord to unplug your Roku device, you can restart the device from the settings menu. Go to Settings > System > System restart > Restart on a player, or Settings > System > Power > System restart > Restart on a Roku TV.

  3. Re-install the channel: After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Channel Store and add the channel again.

    • Note: If you are adding a subscription channel billed to your Roku account, you will need to resubscribe.

Let us know how it goes!

All the best,

Kariza
