I started having problems watching any channels streamed from the Sling TV app starting 2 days ago. I noticed that on that morning Oct 27 9:20 am, there was an update installed, Version 10.5.0, Build 4191. I am able to watch my OTA, Air TV antenna content that is integrated into the Sling TV app, but like I said none of the streaming channels from Sling will start. I get an error message 27-1, "We're Sorry, unable to play content, please try another channel or later" or something to that effect. Is this a DRM issue?
Reporting same issue...
Worked fine last Sat. First time attempting to access Sling since.
Now all attempts to load any channel result in error code (27-1) "Temporarily unable to load video".
Very distressing and annoying.
This on a Roku3.
------------------
Update: 13:53 CDT -- Removed Sling app, rebooted Roku3, re-installed Sling app, rebooted Roku3...
Prob still exists same as before. Cannot view any Sling content.
Since I just rejoined Sling last weekend to view NCAA football, looks like I may be regretting and rethinking that decision.
-----------------
Update 2: 14:31 CDT -- Signed out of Sling app, rebooted Roku3, signed into Sling app...
Prob still exists same as before. Cannot view any Sling content.
Now extremely pissed enough to seriously consider quitting Sling - assuming I can locate another service providing channels I wish to view. Looking at you Hulu Live...
-----------------
Update 3: 15:50 CDT --
- Removed SDCard, rebooted, caused Sling app to reload, no joy, same prob. Re-installed Micro SD
- Rebooted Fiber ONT, no joy, same prob.
- Rebooted router, no joy, same prob.
- Second Roku3, no joy, same prob (this one is connected WiFi, first Roku3 is ethernet hard wired.
Now fully pissed.
Can find no resolution to this prob and no assistance. No contact for Sling Tech Support if such even exists.
-----------------
I recognize this is likely a Sling prob and not a Roku prob. Too bad, can't find anywhere better to vent.

Update 4: 21:48 CDT...
Wow...
Prob still exists.
No questions, no answers, no responses, no comments...
Sad commentary on Roku and on Sling.
Guess I need to look elsewhere for what both have provided me in the past.
Streaming has fast become the quagmire/swamp that was cable but now is just provided over the internet rather than over coax.
Sad state of affairs.
This sounds to me like Sling needs to update the Roku-compatible version of its channel app to be compatible with the recent Roku operating software update to version 10.5.
Roku just provides the platform on which 3rd party channel apps like Sling run. Sling provides the app itself and is responsible for its coding and upkeep.

@makaiguy...
That's my initial thought. Especially given the Roku updated to v10.5 on 27oct21.
But, if Sling app suddenly were incompatible with updated Roku firmware, I would think that would affect more than just a few folks. I can find no indication that a significant number of Sling users (or any besides the two in this thread) are affected.
OTOH, there is controversy whether the Roku3 (4200x) is considered "old" by Sling app standards and is no longer "compatible" with Sling app by Sling standards.
I did not receive any notification my Roku model would be deemed outdated by Sling (apparently such notice was sent by Sling to some users) but I realize that my model is rather old. I've considered updating the unit for a while and have just ordered a newer model since that only required a $30(US) outlay.
We'll see whether this resolves on the Roku3 or if the newer model solves the problem.
I'm still not getting any streamed content/channels from Sling to work on my 3 yr old TCL TV with integrated Roku. I currently have Sling app version 8.9 build 1599 that I assume is the latest since I just checked this morning along with checking for the latest Roku version for my TV.
I talked to Sling support on Friday (2 days ago), who forced me to go through all the usual steps that I had already gone through, to no avail. Finally the support tech said he was "escalating" this issue and to check the Sling app from time to time to see if it starts working... RIGHT!!!!
Fortunately, we consume most of our Sling content on either our laptops or iPads so it's not a terrible situation situation for us. But I can't help but think that there are a lot of Sling customers out there that have my same 3 year old 55" TCL TV (because it was a very popular TV at the time, sold at Best Buy, Amazon, and other places) and are undoubtedly having this same issue.
I guess the only thing we can do is to wait for Sling to update their app to be compatible with Roku 10.5.0. I wonder if there is a way to downgrade to a previous version?
I have a TCL 65”. I haven’t used it in a while, about a month. I started watching yesterday and it froze during my stream, tight as a drum. Had to unplug the tv.
now, error 27-1. I’ve done the same stuff, restart router, removed sling channel, added it back.
finally called tech support this morning. First tear said he would escalate the issue. I’m holding my breath
Additional info, I have 2 TCL 32” TVs, in the same house, and they are working fine, as of the moment. I checked and these 2 32” TVs are still on roku 10.0. Thank goodness.
also to the guy that said this is a sling problem. I’m a software engineer and both companies have co-responsibility to all customers. what is broken is sling running on the roku platform, so this begs the question; is roku no longer supporting the sling app?
What I take away from this experience is not to buy roku TVs, I will purchase platform independent devices from this point forward. I am still able to watch my 65 by casting from my iPad (where the sling app is running fine)
Sorry all but something someone said about the roku update 10.5. I just checked and my tv/roku was updated to 10.5 at exactly the time my problem started yesterday. The update is definitely related to the problem
I read somewhere that the 10.5 update is a selective rollout. Based on what I’ve read so far, apparently the TCL roku was somewhere at the top of the list
@all...
Well, there are more folks affected and those affected folks are not limited to Roku3... Good to know.
Guess we're all on the waiting list for Sling app to update (I'm currently also on v8.9 build 1599 which was already mention by another).
