My problem is not exactly the same as listed here, but very interesting that I have a 32" TCL Roku tv and am not having any problems on it. I even forced it to update and still no issues. My problem is on my Ultra. Sling freezes and either forces the device to restart or I have to unplug it to get it to work. But I guess Sling and Roku just don't get along, as I have tried Sling at least 3 other times and I had problems EVERY time! I only subscribed again this time for the $25 first month discount to watch college football and have already cancelled. I also have a LG web OS smart tv and Sling acts funny on it too. There it gives a very long lag when starting up or changing channels. A frozen picture will appear and remain frozen for sometimes 30 seconds then starting at that point. At other times it will appear to buffer then jump backwards for several mins of the program and restart from there. So I am leaning more toward Sling being most responsible for this and other problems. It happens on too many different devices. I enjoyed getting a month of discounted football from them and am just moving on to the next service. I wish other services would break up their packages and be more affordable like Sling, but work better. But as the old saying goes....When wishes ands buts become candy and nuts we will all have a Merry Christmas!
I’m tapping out. Not going to wait on either of these companies (roku and sling). I picked up YouTube TV, although google and roku don’t have a settled contract as of today. Roku is alienating a few good streaming service providers. I’ve learned my lesson, platform independence from now on.
Possible work around your issue...Try integration with the "Stremium" app. It has a free edition that works fine on Firestick. I could not get the free edition to work on my Roku but others may have better luck. It also has a free trial of the paid version. I don't need it as I am not experiencing the same problem so I didn't try. I am using it on Firestick as it adds extra free channels uping my total to 212 including my Sling orange and total tv package. Hope this helps.
@all...
"Since you're having this issue on Rokus, we recommend using a different device in the meantime." - Sling Care Team.
And, I recommend that Sling (and Dish Network in general) can go suck eggs.
Seriously, screw Sling.
I've canceled and I've let them know exactly why. I'm certain they don't really care but at least I feel better having let them know exactly why.
This type of thing is one of the main reasons Hulu (and some others) can get away with their higher prices (and I'm betting they know that).
And, yes, I'm back on Hulu Live for my college football.
This whole streaming thing needs a total makeover which can't/won't happen until and unless content producers figure out how to modify their profit model away from traditional models. By that time, I'll likely have expired myself.
Bought a new to me 2018 Roku Ultra (4660X).The first thing I did was perform a factory reset to remove all the information and account of the previous owner. It is running version 10.5.0 build 4201-46.
After getting the device registered in my Roku account I tried to run Sling. First I got error 4-404. After chatting online with Roku support and performing all the delete and reinstall steps I had already tried, nothing changed.
Then I chatted with Sling. They had to reset some info in my account with them, apparently. They also walked me through the same delete the app and restart the Roku device waste of my time. After unplugging the power to the device, and rebooting I was able to reinstall Sling and it worked...one time. 6 hours later I tried to actually use Sling on my 2018 Roku Ultra and now I get error 27-1.
This is appears to be entirely an issue between Roku and Sling. I can access Sling just fine on my Roku Streaming Stick+ (3811X) running version 10.5.0 build 4201-50.
This morning I got an email response from Roku instructing me to perform a factory reset....really???
Just performed a painfully slow unscientific test because my Roku Ultra feels way slower than any of the other 5 Roku devices I have owned.
1. 2018 Roku Ultra which refuses to play Sling
Clicking the * button on the remote in order to manage a particular channel from the home page (move, delete, update, etc) requires watching the wait animation (purple spinning circle) an average of 9 revolutions before the various options appear on the screen.
2. 2020 Roku Streaming Stick+ which plays Sling
Clicking the * button on the remote in order to manage a particular channel from the home page (move, delete, update, etc) requires watching the wait animation (purple spinning circle) an average of 1 revolution before the various options appear on the screen.
Both Rokus in this test are connected to the same wifi. The Roku Ultra is 12' away from the wifi modem, while the Roku Streaming Stick+ is 30' away in another room with 3 walls in between.
Roku Devs, the Streaming Stick+ in my experience is 900% faster than the device you named "Ultra."
Obviously there is a problem with the Ultra. All of the other 5 Rokus I have owned played Sling with no problem. Please address this for your customers--we are who pays you salary. Asking us to endlessly remove, reset and reinstall isn't fixing the issue.
Hello. I have exactly the same problem. Did you get any feedback on how to fix it?
Not yet. The only suggestion was to perform a factory reset, which I did just 2 days ago.
Yep I just did the same thing and it didn’t work. If anything works I will let you know on this thread
