Beginning earlier today, some channels are, as you describe it, returning to the Home screen after selection. Just tried the suggestion to use to mobile app as a remote. It didn't fix the problem, I didn't try every channel, but of the ones I tried:
- Netflix, YouTube, France 24, & a few others opened as usual
- HBOMax, Pandora, CBSN, NewsMax & a few others returned to the home screen
I also tried
- turning off & restarting the modem & router
- removing & re-installing channels.
This also happened a few years ago. Can't recall how that got resolved.
Any other suggestions?
I tried all of those too & nothing is working. Getting ready annoyed/frustrated. If it’s a known issue, have the developers fix it!
The last time this happened is discussed on a thread titled "Certain channels won't load," I posted about it on Dec. 26, 2020.

Tried using my phone as the remote. Hulu still opens and then directs back to home screen.
I just bought a new Roku since my other device had the same issue where eveytime I tried to access Hulu it would revert back to the home screen. After I setup my new device and tried to access Hulu, it still reverts back to the home screen. I've tried system restart, used the mobile app for remote while the batteries were out, restarted the internet, & uninstalled and reinstalled Hulu but it doesn't work properly. Is there any fix for this?

Thank you- I did that too. Still nothing. It's just affecting my Hulu channel and not the other ones.
I did the restart 4x's
removed the Hulu app and reinstalled it.
Had Hulu reps do it too from their end...nada! I'll give it a few days, if not. Hulu and I will be separated for good.
I am having the exact same issue with Hulu. I click on the app and it opens, allows me to select a profile and doesn't even get the page loaded before it kicks me back to the main screen of Roku. I've unplugged the device, restarted it about a dozen times, uninstalled Hulu about a half a dozen times, logged into Hulu on my laptop and kicked me off all devices to rule out an account problem and tried the app remote suggestion and NOTHING has worked. My other apps are working just fine. This is really frustrating considering I use Hulu the most. Model 3900X, software 10.0.0.4209 Device ID C33882396105.
I have same problem, affects Hulu only so far. Went thru the entire list of fixes, NOTHING works.I’ve had this TCL Roku tv for 18 months and not one problem till now.My problem happened after a 30 sec power outage.
