Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

Really Danny? If I wanted to do all of that I'd just work in support at Roku and get paid for doing it. I have 3 Roku devices and my parents have two. That's loyalty.  What is going on with all these channels not working.

Software update doesn't even work.

Will there be credits? I have multiple streaming channels

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

On all three of my TV's, with Roku Streaming Stick 3800X, software version 10.0.0 build 4209-55, they have been going back to the home screen regularly, and increasingly, and only on Hulu.  That's also what we watch 95% of the time, so maybe it could happen on other things.

I tried all of the recommendations on here, including but not limited to, updating, uninstalling and reinstalling Hulu, new batteries, using the Roku app instead of the physical remote, etc.

It seems to happen very consistently when watching a DVR'ed program.  If the show is paused or playing for more than a couple of minutes, that back button returns to the home screen almost every time.  Both with the physical remote, and the app remote.

The only thing that seems to help is hitting the back button twice quickly.  That also seems to mess up the formatting on the screen, but it often keeps it from going to the home screen.

This has been going on for many, many months.  It's getting very tiresome.  Hulu has said they're looking into it, but they think it's a Roku problem.  I do too.  Please help.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

I was thinking the same thing, but for me the problem occurs with the remote app as well.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

I tried using my phone remote and that did not work either. I can pull up the app (Netflix Hulu and Prime) watch it for about 5 minutes then it closes out to the Home Screen. I’ve removed and reinstalled the apps, didn’t help. Reset my network, didn’t work. Also when I start Netflix it seams the screen to where I can’t see it. I have to go out and back in to it and sometimes that don’t even work! 😡

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

It is your remote. Take the battery out and it will stay in the channel you are watching. Also your remote is not bad. Seems the new software update has caused all remotes to do this.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

It's when I hit the back arrow, it goes all the way back to home just by hitting it once. If I took the batteries out, it wouldn't work at all. And it happens with the back button on the Roku app, so it's not the remote.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

STATUS UPDATE:

BACKGROUND

Equip:  2 X Roku Ultra LT originally using included Voice Remote RC-AL8

Experienced aperiodic return to home screen within 3 minutes of launching any app on both units.  Removed battery from remote after launching app seemed to alleviate the problem.

CURRENT STATUS:

I ordered 2 3rd party remotes (will not work on Roku Stick or Roku TV) from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GHJCPPL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

Removed batteries from original remotes and tossed in the junk drawer.

I can no longer control TV volume or power-off functions, but I have not experienced a return to home menu event since making the conversion.

BOTTOM LINE:

This is a huge disappointment because one of the selling points for the original configuration was the simplicity of a single remote for Roku viewing.  I was faced with a choice of

1) Controlling the TV volume and viewing programs in ❤️ minute increments

or

2) Using two remote controls and viewing entire programs . . . or even an entire series without silly malfunctions.

Thanks, Roku!  You've restored my faith that self-help is exponentially better than tech support.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

On the bright side it’s gotten worse recently. Only had to reopen Netflix 15 times last night to finally get it to work. Looks like customer service is non existent on the issue too…would be really hard to recommend anyone get a Roku product at this point.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

Not just after selecting channel, but after starting a show, it stops and returns to Home screen.  After trying to restart the show, goes to about the same place and kicks me back to the home screen again.  This is happening on different channels.  I have an excellent wifi connection and good download speed.  It only happens on my TCL TV, my Roku sticks on my other TVs work fine.  Have rebooted tv, router, channel, Roku with no improvement.  It used to happen less, but is happening more and more.
