We are waiting and hoping for a solution to this also. Casting is so much more of a pain in the rear. I wouldn't even mind paying a few bucks for access to the channel.
We should pool our moneys together and pay some contractors to penetrate they're servers and retrieve the source code to jailbreak these things. its plain to see that this 'uncertified' bull**bleep** is just some creative tactic some brown nosing pencil pusher came up with as a slick sideways way to push their morality on us because there is aLOT of better ways they could have handled that if they really cared about inclusivity
It does some things well.
Nbc.paramount pluss.hulu.
They just lost the adult content.
I would have liked more
Free content to view not less.
I heard there looking to update.
Here's a work around I've been using. There's a channel on Roku called web video caster and a companion app you can download to a mobile device. It allows you to play videos from just about any website on your Roku.
Honestly I am wondering between ROKU and also AdultDVDEmpire what really is in play here. I reached out to ADE actually a few months back on this and they said similar to me that ROKU just doesn't want Adult content on their devices. With that said, ADE needs to also do something about this. I am not the type to pay for monthly subscriptions to anything, I tend to like to curate my content via direct purchase of videos to add to a collection. So in the long run, I actually pay a lot more than subscribers over time, and with ADE I always just paid for the Stream For Life vs the Steam For Life+Download option, kind of kick myself at this stage as full as my library is over the years for not taking that option.
I actually told them why not just create an Android based version of their app, no response for a few months now on that but it should have been a no brainer for ADE to have had that as a second option in the first place. Far as ROKU, ah...I am probably done buying their products. I forsee them fading out eventually anyways due to the constant pull of channels, not keeping up with competition in the hardware area.
For now, I guess we are all stuck with using the website version for ADE, me I stopped personally using them anyways. Me and my girl decided to chill on the porn till ADE figures out a more intuitive way to provide their content to people that hold decent libraries, the jump through hoops to use it on a website is just extra effort that kind of kills the mood if you know what I mean lol. I have a Shield Pro, rather it all be on that anyways so I guess I will hope eventually they create something for this
It's part of Roku's distribution agreement:
"16. Content and Application Metadata Requirements.
16.1. You will not provide or use materials in connection with this Agreement, including within Your Properties, that Roku determines: (a) incite violence, place individuals or groups in imminent harm, or are otherwise unlawful or encouraging of illegal activity; (b) infringe or violate third party rights, including any person’s privacy rights or right of publicity; (c) constitute pornography; ... "
https://docs.roku.com/published/developerdistribution/en/us
Of course, as always, the definition of pornography is ambiguous.
Well I guess that got slipped into the TOS over the years lol. Thanks for that, I never noticed it but I been with ROKU since the first generation...haven't really paid much attention to updated TOS over the years. I get it on some levels, I guess ROKU is going for a more generalized audience format now a days.
Personally I am already switched to Nvidia Shield, probably just ghost my way that way from this point on
Very interesting. A couple users on this forum posted a lot of messages trying to convince everyone that this had nothing to do "adult content". Well, it must have played a part for this to be in the TOS.
Not to mention the next part about "false information". Seriously? Who decides what's false?
I'm in the process of switching to Android TV boxes. There are some quirks to work through, but I think it's a much better option if you value the freedom to consume content you like.
@GBush, don't mix up two different issues. The elimination of all private channels had nothing to do with their content.
Not to be argumentative, but I just don't believe that. Regardless, the effect is the same. No more adult content. Why?
