You’re so right, mine are so young I didn’t even consider the poor kids who are older likely being blamed because those ads are typically targeted (at least ours have always been) based on what we DO watch. I stumbled on this thread by accident trying to google exactly what would trigger something like that specifically on a Roku TV. And I still wouldn’t have believed it was on Roku if someone else hadn’t posted the exact same images and titles we were getting. I’ve now removed the Recommended row on both TV’s all together but I’m furious I had to. We already had parental controls on. My kids should never have seen this sh*t and I will NEVER buy a Roku product again.
Since it seems as if many people are seeing the same ads, what network or service are they from? If it's more or less the same, then it was probably an ad buy that overrode normal personalization.
Thanks for reporting this here in the Roku Community, @Kpmack676!
We understand the inappropriate nature of the situation. No worries; we have already escalated this to the team and are now investigating this.

I'm having the same issue. I've got a list of **bleep** movies like I'm staying in some **bleep** motel. It's making me angry. I wonder if Roku cares that I will never buy a TV from them again. The fact that this has to be reported on a forum is ridiculous. And now that I've read about this, it appears to be a long-term problem.
I have the same problem on all of my Roku TV's and Roku sticks. I have parental controls in place so this should not be happening at all. This needs to be fixed yesterday because my kids should not be seeing this. Roku, fix this soon or I will be forced to abandon the Roku platform for something that works and cares about kids.
All I did was under "settings", I went to "Home Screen" and then "Recommendation rows" and selected "Hide".
Top picks = gone
So all the Roku's on my account decided to start displaying adult content on the recommendations tiles at all hours of the day. We turned off the recommend for you in the options but this is a pretty poor design in content selection. I have seen other posts complaining about this and it seems it is not fixed and if you do not care to fix it I think my best option will be to replace my rokus with AppleTVs or FireSticks.
I just noticed these same ads last night, and then got questioned about it this morning. My family wanted to know who was watching these types of shows to make it suggest other similar titles. So glad to see this is not the case, and everyone commenting here is also getting these pushed to their devices without their consent. I do not appreciate Roku making a ransom demand that to turn off these ads, I have to opt in to let them access and sell any personal information they can get from my devices. Unbelievable. Now I have to inform and explain to my parents that they are going to be seeing these inappropriate ads and how 'fix' the problem. Will wait for the class action l-a-w-suit on this one. Everyone take notes.
Will you update here what you find?
We have this turned off on all of our rokus and it is still happening. Not happy this is showing when our kids are in room.
