I bought a ROKU Express here in Germany, set up an account and tried unsuccessfully to load the Chanels ARD MEDIATHEK and ZDF. When I use the search function, it shows me that I can only access US results. I have already reset the module to the factory settings 2 times and tried it with 3 different email addresses.
I believe that the system "recognizes" me as an American user, which is wrong. How and where can I change the type of search so that I can find German content?
Thanks
Try going to https://roku.com/channelchecker. When I go there I am shown information pertinent to my US location, likely because I am connecting from an IP located in the US, so you might get the German version automatically.
In the extreme lower right corner of the page in small print I can choose to switch to versions for the other officially supported countries where the available channels may be different.
(For some reason when I try to make a similar change on the normal channel store page at https://channelstore.roku.com/browse page it doesn't result in receiving a different version of the page, it always loads the US version for me.)
Thanks for your repley, but unfortunately your solution doesn't work. I can change the version, but it immediately reverts to the American version. One way I found the ARD and the ZDF app, but the option to load them was gray and I couldn't select them. Seems like I'm being blocked for whatever reason. I've already tried different browsers and removed the Adbocker. At the moment I don't really get it.
@Jernst, if when you created your Roku account you didn't have the "Country selector" in the bottom right corner of the webpage set to Germany it can mess things up. I would suggest starting over by either closing your current Roku account or just creating a new one with a different email address, factory resetting your Roku, and linking it again. Make sure your country is set to Germany on all Roku webpages.
