Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.
If the issue remains unresolved, I'd recommend reaching out to A&E directly to report the issue and request additional support. Many channels on the Roku platform are developed and maintained by the channel provider directly, and they'll be able to best assist. If other channels are working correctly, and you only experience this issue on the A&E channel (app), that is likely an indication that the issue lies within that particular channel. In these cases, the channel provider will need to investigate the issue in order to help resolve it.

my hulu recording stops and goes back to home screen, does not happen on fire stick, loaded hulu directly to my SONY TV with out roku and no problem

You posted your question in a forum that was for the A&E app.
But the same logic applies for any nonworking app. Uninstall the app.
Uninstall hulu. Press the * button and uninstall it. Then restart the roku device. You can find that in settings in roku. Then reinstall hulu app back. Log back into hulu if need be with your hulu login and password info. (Also, hulu has a limit of devices .ie 6 profiles and 2 screening at the same time... so that could also be your issue.) But if this does not make it work then you would reach out (via email) to the hulu app developers. You can find that info on the hulu website. You will have to supply them with the hulu app version (hit the star on roku when you are on the hulu app and pull up software hulu app version #) and then provide them with roku device info like model number and software version (again you can find this info in roku settings). This is the same procedure when any app is malfuctioning on roku. The only other thing would be perhaps buy a current 2022 year roku model device. You may get a deal on one as we approach the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas. They will have them on sale.Check Walmart, Target, Best Buy etc.. Or look on roku website for deals that can be purchased and mailed to you. Many app developers aren't going to update their app version for older roku models. They just become obsolete. So that too could be your issue. Going forward always make sure all the apps on roku have been checked for any updates. You can manually check for all app updates by going into roku device and selecting check for updates.
