xfinity app fail on roku stick

Jump to solution

I have 4 rokus. 3 of them the xfinity app is installed and working fine.  I have an older Roku stick and when I search xfinity it shows the app, but there is a blank box, no stars and when I click it it says channel install failed.  whatup

For channel availability and device compatibility information, you'll want to contact any specific channel provider directly to inquire about which models of Roku devices their channel supports.

You can see more information about Xfinity and their supported Roku devices here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/activate-xfinity-tv-app-on-roku

Some apps/channels are written with code that requires the capability of more recent Roku models. This is more common with newer apps that were first written after the newer units came out.  Older apps with updated code available often still have the older versions in the system. Ones that don't have available versions that will not run on your older units often cannot even be installed to them.

The Xfinity app doesn’t work on a Roku that old.

See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/activate-xfinity-tv-app-on-roku

Once your Xfinity Internet and TV services are activated, you can get the app on these Roku models:

  • Roku TVs: A000X, C000X, 5000X, 6000X, 7000X, 8000X
  • Roku Streaming Media Players:
    • Roku Ultra (4340X, 4660X)
    • Roku Express (3700X, 3900X) and Express+ (3710X, 3910X)
    • Roku Premiere (3920X, 4620X) and Premiere+ (3921X, 4630X)
    • Roku 2 (4210X only), Roku 3 and 4 (4200X, 4210X, 4230X, 4400X)
  • Roku Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick+: 3600X, 3800X, 3810X
  • Roku Sound Bar: 9100X

REQUIREMENTS

  • Devices must be on minimum firmware version 8.1 b1 or higher.
  • The Xfinity Stream Beta channel will only appear in the Roku channel store for eligible devices.
  • If you have two or more linked Xfinity accounts, see How to Link, Unlink and Switch Between Multiple Accounts for instructions on how to set the right default/primary account.
  • Note that you may have to re-accept Terms of Activation if there are updates to your account or changes to your Xfinity TV package.
